so next month it will be a year since my band!! I am down about 60-65 pounds. Have had 5 fills, last one was 2 weeks ago. Went in for pain in the area where my port is at, they had a very hard time finding the port and getting the needle in, finally did with the main dr coming in to do it. I am finally tight! and have great restriction best it has ever been. Went to have a follow up today from my back surgery I had in November and had a x-ray done, much to my supprise my port is turned or tilited!! this explaines my pain for the past few months. Made a call to my dr. go in on Tuesday to see what they want to do. Has anyone else had this? what did they do? So worried because I am finally feeling good with the restriction and do not want to start over

First off congratulations on your success
Iam still pre-op, so I am not the best person to answer this (I can offer book answer not experience answer, sorry) but from what I have read the symptoms of pain near a port, difficulty finding or filling it means that it has flipped or twisted and they should have caught that back when you went in before.  They may need to go in and fix it, not sure if they need to replace just the port or what, Im sure someone else who has had this happen will be able to answer that.  A flipped port can be caused by scar tissue healing inside where the port is attached to, & some kinds of exercise.  You did nothing wrong and they will be able to fix it or replace it for you.  Im just worried that they didn't catch that before when they were having issues finding & filling it.  If they were having problems like that it should have been a red flag and they should have tested you then and saved you some time and worry.  Again Im preop so I could be wrong about all of this, Im just trying to reassure you with what I have read about it.  (((hugs))) Im sure everything will be ok and they will get you back on track

Hmmm, most people don't even notice when their port is turned or tilted ****rtainly did not).  If you have port pain then you can have it resutured into your stomach muscle.  If the pain has resolved keep it the way it is and opt for the lower profile port when you get more of your weight off.

Port surgery is not so pleasant.  It is the last to heal and gives the most discomfort.

I hope this new fill gets you just where you need to be!

Best,
Leila
