I have had my lap band for 4yrs now. I have lost 107lbs with 50 more to go. I had to have my gallbladder removed a year ago. I have noticed lately that I keep so much gas pains and have to burp alot!!! It  smells horrible!! It actually smells like rotten eggs when I burp.I know this is gross, but is it normal!!!

No that doesn't sound normal to me....
I'd call your lap band surgeon and ask what they think.

That certainly isn't normal for me.  I've been banded a couple years now too. That's a new one...
I'd give your MD a jingle and see if they need to test perhaps. Especially if this is a new and recent phenomena.

I do get gas but it goes downwards (is that better or worse???).  I can't actually burp!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I agree that since this is a new thing I would have it checked out.  Now, myself, I burp almost constantly it seems but I've always been that way.  I also have wayyyy more gas in the other direction since my surgery.  I'm afraid to go anywhere especially in the evening cause it seems worse then!  Not fun.   I took beano one night and it seemed to help.

Maybe dilation?  My surgeon did say one symptom of dilation is you can smell burp, food in breath very strong.

Do call your surgeon!

246 in Dec 2008 before banded 1/28/09 at 215 lbs, band crapped 9/09 at 170 lbs and struggled with it and regained to 203 revised to bypass on 8/1/11 and am very happy.

Well I just had my GB removed last week and I burp even worse now than when I was first banded. I don't notice a smell but I did read that after GB surgery you do burp more, plus all that acid is now sitting in your stomach instead of in the GB (kind of a holding tank for bile). It can't hurt to check with your doc but it may just be your new normal.

Call the doctor.  I have been banded for just over 2 years and the burps will clear the room out and the bloating and pain from the gas is so painful.  I literally just saw my doctor and my band has slipped pretty bad...have to have a band revision surgery!
