Taking a stand.
My view for banders.. you will not like it..Run and have it removed. I have seen patient after patient have to find the money because their band, that was suppose to be able to stay in there forever, had to be removed. This is what happened to me. I had to morgage my house to pay to have it removed. I had to wait for my eroded stomach to heal before a sleeve could be done. It was the most tramatic and expensive way to lose weight. I want everyone to have the best weight loss they can afford, but, the band is the most expensive. Start adding up all the costs. I had $20,000 dollars into it. If you read your material, you will see it says less than 1% complication rate... 32 of us were all banded in a 6 month period. We all have now bee sleeved because of slippage and erosion. This is why we get on our "high horse" We may come off nasty, I am not, I just can see each of you in line right now waiting for the removal. It is so traumatic.
As for making fun of someone elses religion, the government is taking that from us anyway, so pretty soon you won't be able to say "God" or any related thing at all. So poke fun now, in a few years it will be gone and we will wish we could say, sing it or praise it.
I think we are all idiots for getting the band after all the information out there. I would never had done that to myself. Removal of the stomach was less traumatic than having a 6 hour operation to remove and clean up the mess it made. So, be friends, praise God, the Goddess, Og whomever and just be nice. We were or all fat, and are trying to find our nitch. Lets just have an Idiot group, then we will not be offended if someone calls us that... Anyone want to be the President of the group????

If someone has breast cancer, they have several options for treatment. Some people opt for lumpectomy, some get radiation/chemo, some get full or partial mastectomy. They make that decision with the help of their doctors, research, and their own needs/wants. Sometimes that treatment doesn't work. Should they then go around telling every other cancer patient that they shouldn't get that treatment because it didn't work for them?

I'm with Kate on this all the way i know that WASaBubbleButt
has been mean and rude to several posters and because of her they left this group

I saw Lynn's post. I am a Christian. I did not take it as a religious attack. I didn't think it was particularly witty or clever, but I'm certainly not getting butt-hurt over it.
Seriously, what does it take for people to read a post they think is dumb, ignore it or block the person and move on?
It's like one out of five posts on this board is ranting about the people on the board, rather than about Lap-Band help.
That's annoying. Can't we stay on topic? If we're going to go off topic, does it have to be like an episode of Jersey Shore?
And for the person that said you don't believe the BubbleButt poster lost weight because she didn't post pictures... lol.
Privacy is a very undervalued thing these days, and you won't ever see a picture of me out here. With the way everyone is at each other's throats, especially on a board where we're all obese and supposed to be supporting each other, can you blame me? Not to mention, it's frankly none of anyone's business what I look like in real life. For those of you that are open enough to share, glad it is working out for you. Me... I'll pass. If this means that you don't think I am losing weight, I don't really care, because I'm certainly not doing this for you. :)
If the original poster, Kate I believe, blocks the people she doesn't want to read, and that works for her, then by all means, keep doing it to have a better OH board experience.
I am not blocking anyone unless they give me personal reason to do so, and politely ask that no one tell me what moral compass I need to follow.
If I did leave this board, it wouldn't be because of any potential "mean" or "negative" posters, it would be because this board goes off topic and into personal drama way too often, and I don't really truck with that. Perhaps if the fires stop getting fed, this problem wouldn't continually crop up.

my problem was not the "religious" aspect of Lynn's post...it was the fact that she didnt need to bring down a very positive post with her negativity!! There was no point in that post where she was giving anyone positive or negative feedback on the band itself so why even post? Its really a shame that bashing a post and being negative for no reason makes her feel better. It really shows her character and I would hate to be that angry in life.
I usually ignore the band bashing and the negativity towards the band because their experience may not be mine....and one day it may be....so, Im not going to go one way or the other on their issues because who knows what my experience will be. But, to just blatently be b*tchy about someones post that gives positive feedback on the band is, like i said, OBNOXIOUS. Just like I do not respond to the negative nellies if I dont agree, why dont the negative nellies just stay out of the positive posts??

What you're saying is completely reasonable, and makes 100% sense.
The issue I would take with it, is that it goes both ways. I'm not pointing any finger at you, MizzRI, just mentioning that for the people whose bands have failed, there have been plenty of instances where people who think they "know better" have told them that they failed, not their band.
Guess what? The band can fail, people. You can do everything right, and it may still fail. That is life. Things happen that way. My band, in particular, is working great, but I really feel for those of us here where it didn't work out well and are suffering for it.
Correlate it like this: I have fibromyalgia. I cannot possibly count the amount of people who think they know what the answer for it is, that tell me "just get more sleep, that's why you feel so tired." Nope, doesn't work that way. I could sleep until Kingdom Come and you know what? I'm still going to feel like ass. Most of the time I let it roll off my back, sometimes I get tired of the uninformed comments and I snap. But usually, I just don't post or talk about it, because you can't really understand something like fibro unless you go through something like it yourself.
For a person to say that their band slipped, after doing everything right, and have other posters come down on them, telling them that they obviously did it wrong, is like saying, "you're a moron, and I am better than you." Nope.. no one is better than anyone else... unless you're a Yankees fan, in which case, yep. I am better than you. *wink* :)

Love your posts here, anewlyfe!
You and I are on the same the wavelength. It is heartbreaking when your band fails after you've tried so hard and believed so much that it would be the answer. Then when someone (who has never had a band problem) tells you it is probably because you lived with it too tight for too long or ate off plan or guzzled alcohol (or whatever else has been thrown out there), it is downright insulting.
When my band had to be unfilled, I gained a crazy ton of weight. Blame me for that, but the reason my band had to be unfilled and then later removed...that was totally the band.
I'm glad your band is working well!

Wow, that's really interesting news for those who want to do some internet stalking. You can possibly track someone down by seeing where there photo was taken. Fortunately it only applies to pictures taken with a digital camera with gps, or a smart phone. So, don't use those if you're going to post pics online.
