This thread is here and deleting my post would make the whole thing ridiculous. But i deeply regret posting it and ask you to forgive me. My intentions were good and arose out of a desire to restore sanity to this board. This thread has the opposite effect and i am truly sorrry for that.

Yesterday, I signed of my account out so that I could read a couple of whole threads. The gaps left (where there were posts by two people, one of whom has blocked me and the other whom I have blocked) simply did not allow me to follow the thread. This is the first time I have signed out in this way since I blocked the two people in question. I know at least one of them checks up on me because I get e mail notification when she repies on one of my threads although i cannot see the post on the board.

I am, I truly believe, a tolerant person. But enough is enough. The vitriol and the personal insults hurled about by WasaBubbleButt and LynneB and the appalling way in which Lynne B poked fun at JeanM's religion yesterday are simply not acceptable.

It is not enough to say  - ignore it.
These two are being vile! It is a shame as both can, as long as no-one dares to challenge them, give excellent advice and support.

I would like to suggest that others follow my example and block them. Not just so that we are not irritated by their posts but so that they find it harder to spew their vitriol.

I know many people choose not to block posters as they feel they can easily just ignore posts they don't want to read. But if a lot of us block these two, they won't have so many threads on which they are able to post.  I did report them to OH but, as usual, didn't even get a reply.

We need to read of band problems and everyone is entitled to give their opinion. But we are supposedly civilised people and in my world there is no place for this sort of invective. If my family or the children I teach spoke to each other as these two are speaking to some of us, I would not permit it!

I am not suggesting we block them because of their views about the band, purely because of their sheer nastiness if anyone dares to question anything they say.

For someone who swears they don't log out to read my posts, you are showing your true colors.

Lynn did not make fun of Jean's religion, that's a flat out lie.

Why doesn't it seem to upset you that people are giving out wrong information, referring to facts, stats, and peer reviewed studies as band bashing? Why doesn't it cause you problems that Naomi has more IDs than changes of underwear and blasts anyone struggling? And it doesn't bother you in the least when a stupid little bigot slam dunks Mexicans?

Are you aware that starting threads such as this is breaking OH rules?

And finally, I certainly hope you realize that your true colors are showing through. You try to stir **** on the boards non stop. You are a trouble maker and seriously, Kate, you need to grow the heck up and stop these behaviors. Look, I'm sorry band stats are not great. I wish they were, I wish mine wouldn't have almost killed me. I wish mine wouldn't have ruined my esophagus. But make no mistake, it's not my fault that band stats are so poor, it's not my fault you are part of the stats of re-ops.

Starting threads like this and then whining like a baby about board drama shows your true intent.

I could not agree more, Kate...it isn't that we don't want to hear what they have to say, it is the way they treat people.  Insulting a poster's intelligence, name calling, and just plain old mean-girl behavior...who needs it.

WaBB doesn't even have photos posted on her page...how do we know that she has even lost one pound.  When I visited her surgeon's website, I was not surprised to find that he actually does lap-band surgery and his information is consistent with what most of us have been told.  Also, on his website, she is listed but her location is XX....does she work for the doctor???  One would have to assume that with no photos, no information on her profile, that something is being concealed....

As far as Lynn....I won't say anything at all....not worth the cyber space...lol.

We need a new Pollyanna thread....

Here you go Lynn...

I'm not a negative Nancy, I'm a realistic Michelle. ;o)

If you are looking for someone to shove rainbows and puppy dogs up your back side then start your own forum and ban anyone that doesn't post as you wish.

But you are a newbie, you have no clue what you are talking about. You are blaming horrific band stats on doctors and aftercare. Did I mention you have no clue what you are talking about?

According to the band makers 88% of people have complications. You tell me, considering a monkey could band someone (easiest surgery to do) then why do so many surgeons have poor skills and aftercare for banded people but those same surgeons have great skill and aftercare for the difficult procedures to do?

You want to go? Go. You want to stay, stay. But these drama filled, whiny posts about everyone ELSE being wrong are silly.

And btw, I am not a failed banded person. I weighed 125# at the time of my revision and weigh the same today. The band failed me, big difference.

I don't see any name calling or intelligence insulting?? Just because someone has no clue doesn't mean their stupid - as stated the original poster doesn't really have enough experience to form a long standing opinion on the subject.

Its like asking someone the best route to avoid rush hour traffic when they've lived in the location for 24 hours - they can tell you what they think but it doesn't really mean anything because they haven't driven the route yet.

Wassa may be a bit  to the point and no nonsense but I've only seen her let loose when the OP is out of line first.

Lynn, it is insulting to a person's intelligence when someone makes an assumption...because she is new here doesn't mean she didn't do her research before having her surgery or doesn't have other resources to draw upon in making her decision regarding her surgery choice.  I dealt with this sort of thing early on myself and it almost caused me to go back to my other support web-site.  The point is still that if you want your message to be heard, put it out there in a way that doesn't cause the very people you want to listen, to leave.  It just isn't smart and often these posts come across as just mean spirited.

As far as the name calling...I am not going to go back and find every instance, but in the thread Kate mentioned, there is some of that from the source I cited, and it happens far too often.  That sort of juvenile behavior doesn't get anyone anywhere in furthering their "cause".

I agree that just because she is new doesn't mean that she didn't do any research - but I also believe that if you have only had the band for a short period of time then you have not lived with it enough to provide valid info about life with the band to others (what you think about living with the band at day 8 is going to be vastly different from week 8 and month 8, etc -  for most people, the longer you've had it the more information you can provide). That being said I don't know what the whole post was about so I can't comment on the intention of the response.

As far as me having a "cause" - I don't - I really don't care if people get banded or not. My only purpose (apart from the occasional, and apparently not so funny, poke at some) is to provide statistical information for those who are in the decision making process and are asking for it and to support those having problems that are treated poorly by some here.
