Neither....STAPLES!  And it sucked.  Not that there was any major complication, they just got in the way and had to stay in for 14 days.  My pictures look like I had zippers!

April 2010.

I had dissolvable stitches for both my original banding and my recent port replacement. They were the type that you could not see any stitching externally. Both surgeons used some type of tape strips over the longer port incision that came off a few days after, once it was well sealed.

No issues here. Healed awesomely.

Glue here too, although I seem to remember Dr. Mancini mentioning something about internal stitches... I was foggy though.  And there were a couple of times that I thought I was having some leaking issues, I would SWEAR that I felt something and I would go into the bathroom and check and NOTHING.  It was all in my head.  You know... like a crazy lady.

Also, I was kind of freaked out by the incisions because they looked all bloody and scabby but this week the glue has started peeling off and when it does, all that ick and gore comes with it and the skin is perfect underneath, no scarring at all!  I was really pleased.

PaintingChef you are correct! What most people do not know is that with the glue that you can see on your incisions, there is also internal dissolving stitches. The glue alone would not be such a great idea
