Night coughing

Most nights I wake up coughing several times. It feels like liquid comes up into my throat causing me to almost choke. Most of the time I cough so much I have to vomit and it is mostly liquid. It does not burn like acid reflux. I have researched esophogeal dialation but am not sure if this is what it is. Anyone ever had this? I have had my band since 2006.

You sound a little too tight with some reflux going on.  Call your srugeon asap.  You probably need a slight unfill and some gerd meds.

Call now...

I take Prilosec every morning. I guess I will just have to go and see what the surgeon says.

Hi My opinion only-perhaps you are eating too late or to close to the time you lie down(lay?).Sometimes alcohol plays a factor in slowing down motility-just a few guesses-are you too tight?Have you had a fill recently?
Good luck

I thought I may be eating too late also and changed that several months ago. That's not the problem. I also do not drink alcohol. I have not had a fill in 2 years.

Even if it does not burn, it sounds like reflux. Assuming you have tried the usual things of not eating too late, cutting back on caffeine, highly spiced foods etc., then IMO you are too tight.

When i got a bit tight just over a year ago, a tiny unfill of 0,1cc solved the problem for me. But mine was very minor, just a bit of night-time heartburn. Even so, I am so concerned about being too tight that I had it dealt with.

It might be worth just saying that my increased tightness appeared to have no cause. And my doc says it can sometimes happen that way, even quite a long way post-op (I was 3 /12 years out then).

My advice, see your doc a.s.a.p.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

I agree with the others, too tight. It doesn't mean anything that you haven't had a fill in a long time, sometimes the band just gets tighter. Mine did after a year or so out, I ended up having 2 ccs taken out before I was comfortable again. I'm fine now and have been for awhile so get ahold of your surgeon.

Wow...was hoping someone would have "the" answer lol Sounds exactly like my husband. He has been banded amost 4 years I think , and me almost 5. His comes and goes. But listening to him sleep I can actually hear the gurgle, the he starts coughing. Some nights having to sleep on the couch with the trash can, as there is not enough time to get to the bathroom. He has not had a fill for over a year at least.

I will be checking in to see how you are!! Hopefully you get better. His has been going on for awhile, but his band was cash pay and he has not gone to the doctor for awhile .
