Listen to the DOCTOR!

After reading a poster declaring on no evidence that the doctor of another poster was wrong, must be inexperienced and didn't understand surgery!!

We have not spent (English timings may not be the same in the US):-

5 years in a University Hospital studying medicine
3 years on the wards as a junior doctor
2 years on the wards as a SHO
3 years as a surgical registrar.

We have not undergone training in bariatric procedures.

So if anyone tells you that your doc is wrong - ignore them!

This is not to say all docs are perfect - we all know they are not. But if your doc has a good record,  if what he tells you makes sense, then listen to him! (Or her, of course!).

Even if I lied and told you I was a doctor or a specialist bariatric nurse, or any other professional  - don't believe me! I might be lying through my teeth! And, of course, if I were any of those things, I would not be so unprofessional as to tell you, based on a few sentences on OH, that your doc was no good!

There are quacks out there! That's why you can check out a surgeon before going to him. There are surgical errors. We should question decisions which surprise us or information which seems odd! But those 12 years of training probably mean our docs know a bit more than posters on OH.

Me, I listen to my doc!
