Having a hard time.

So I'm struggling with my eating. I try hard not to use my diabetes as an excuse but since I started exercising so much I'm having difficulties. I can't seem to match my insulin intake with my food and exercise. Then I end up eating 180 calories in juice because I had 3 low blood sugars. It's so flustering. I upped my exercise because I have not lost in over six months. I have 15 pounds to go. Just venting but if anyone has suggestions that would be great.

I think when you are diabetic it is harder to lose weight.  But if you have only 15 lbs to go you are winning the battle.  The less weight you have to lose the slower it gets.  Just take it one day at a time and don't be so hard on yourself.  If you have only 15 lbs to lose you must look pretty good.

I am also diabetic. try eating 6 small meals. This will keep your blood sugars steady instead of the UPS and Downs. You can do it. Just relax and stop stressing. The stress will only lead you to fail and you"ve come a long way to go backward..

I had gestational diabetes.  They told me when my sugars got low to drink 8 ounces of milk.  If you drink the milk you will also be getting your protein.  I was also told when I was going to excessive to eat a bit more and hold my blood sugars.  You have 15 pounds to go,  that in itself is exciting.   Maybe you should vut back the excersize and get your sugars where they need to be than slowly increase you exercise level, Stop stressing and it will happen. I know easier said than done.... Keep up the good job!!

Hi Melanie,
Congrats on your doing so well!   My question would be, "Are you taking a blood sugar reading before you eat your meal?   Then you can adjust your insulin and also eat what you need to eat to help regulate the blood sugar.   The suggestion to eat 6 times a day is good also.   Are you getting any counsel from your dr or nutritionist with your diabetes?   They should be able to help you also.

Hey!  Pretty soon you may not even NEED your insulin anymore!!!   My BIL use to take a lot and is now off of it.  Hope that happens for you too!

Thank you for all the support and comments. I see my diabetes dr every six weeks and they help me through email. I wear a continous glucose monitor as well as check my blood sugars 8 times a day. I have type 1 diabetes. I guess it will always be a struggle but I will try to stay positive and try your suggestions.

We are almost excatly in the same boat. I am type 1 for 45yrs and also have about 10-15lbs left. I have weighed the same for a year. As we know our bs can go up or down for reasons we sometimes don't know. I have cut my carbs way down and I use glucose tabs when needed. I also drink a glass of milk or eat a yogurt. You get some protien, calcium and carbs if you do that. I don't know about you but juice shoots my bs way up. Good luck to you and if you find the trick please let me know.
