slip
found out today after visit with Dr. Chapman that my band has slipped. I am crushed. bmi too low now for any other surgery. not sure where to go from here. The doctor wanted his staff to talk with my insurance company to see what my options were and they will call me when they know something. i am absolutely crushed. i cannot believe this is happening.

Dang, that stinks! I'm so sorry. I'm curious, did you have any vomiting episodes or frequent PB'ing? Did your Dr. say why this might have happened? Do you have any thoughts on why you might have had the slip? Or just bad luck?

hi kristi,
he didn't tell me what caused it. i couldn't keep anything down. vomiting up everything, including water. that was the sign. had the upper GI, showed the slip. not sure where to go from here. dr. chapman doesn't like lap bands and told me so from the beginning. but i must say, he was very compassionate today.......no "i told you so's". i couldn't have handled it, and i think he could see it. it was all i could do to keep myself together until i got to my car.

So prior to this recent vomiting etc, did you have any problems in the last 6 months?
Do you want another band or do you want a sleeve? Ins will pay to have it removed, let ins pay for the OR, anesthesia, etc., and self pay for the sleeve or 2nd band.
Did he unfill you? That usually takes care of the slip right there.

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

I really hope that is something they can try for you. It will be the easiest solution if it works. Of course your risk for having another slip increases.. but if you can get your band functioning again without surgery, that would be excellent.
Good luck!! I hope a positive comes out of this for you in some BIG way.
