Zoloft & the band... anyone else having issues?

I stopped taking my Zoloft last month when I was having a hard time keeping fluids down. I have ALWAYS had a hard time with Zoloft and heartburn with the band. I end up breaking my pills in half to try and make them go thru quicker trying to avoid the heartburn or the more frequent feeling of them just "sitting there". Because of my past history I haven't gone back on the meds since my complete unfill before surgery.

I am miserable right now. I really need to go back on my Zoloft for my own sanity... but I am sick of the issues with the band.

Has anyone else had issues with it? What was your solution?

Wow...sorry you are struggling with this.  I take several pills each day and I have to cut them in halves or quarters depending on the size and shape.  I don't know about the Zoloft being ok to cut in half, but maybe a meeting with the prescribing doctor is needed to explore your options.
I do take my pills slowly, one piece at a time and then take my vitamins...takes about a half an hour to get it all done.
Good luck to you...be sure to let us know what you find out!

I have an apptmnt with the prescribing Dr... but unfortunately not for another week. I am hoping maybe there is a liquid form. As for cutting them in half, they have a line preforation so I basically just snap them in half... I never really thought about whether or not that is ok.

I don't have any issues with Advil Gel Caps etc... but these pesky lil pills just like to hang out and irritate my pouch. But without them I am afraid I irritate everyone else. lol. UGH.

You may want to check with rhe doctor who put you on the Zoloft & see if you can switch meds. The capsules seemed to go down much better for me because they dissolve quicker. Also, I take all my pills with hot tea! The only way I can get them down & thru!

The hot tea is my savoir!! I would use that most often to get the pesky lil buggers to push on through.

I am sorry you are having such issues..
I do not seem to have any trouble with my pills...
In the morning, I take synthroid, effexorXR, biotin, lipitor, metformin, fishless fish oil...

My only problem does occur if I take them in one handful with not enough water....
Then I feel stuck... and pained...

Maybe there is another option..do they make a liquids version or suspension..??
That might help

OM gee... you take metformin!? With no trouble? Those are huge! I actually gave up on taking them even though I should because of PCOS. Hrmph. I think I may have to talk to my PCP about that.

Maybe you are like me (and there are many others the same) - I cannot take any pill. However tiny it is, it does not go through the band. Even small, slippery capsules dissolve above it.

I take nothing which is not crushed or liquid - even cutting into quarters doesn't help. I hope I never need to take any slow release meds!! My doc has so far  always been able to find an alternative for me which is soluble etc..

It is bizarre as I am not in any way tight. I can eat every type of food and almost never PB. But even the tiniest pill....!

And, as I said, my experience is quite common. Many bandsters cannot take tabs - whereas some can swallow horse pills!!

I miss you Kate P., I haven't been up here in a while and you have always been one of my biggest inspirations.

Left the band and rocking with RNY.
They say I have an eating disorder but I say, I have my eating in order.
