Gaining

Well, it's official I am gaining weight. No excuses its total sabatoge! - late night eating, fast food and alcohol.

I swore when I had surgery that I would not be one of "those people." You know one of those who totally f' this whole thing up. I said to myself, "why would you spend all that money and go through all that work, just to set yourself up to fail?!"  And here I am one of "those people."

I haven't gained that much and I know it's not too late to turn things around. I just need help! I don't know how/where to start. How do I get myself back to the mindset I had in the beginning?

Pissed and depressed -

You are fine, you know the problem and you know why it's a problem so get your stuff in order and get back to losing. Don't wait until it is far out of hand.

Lots of people do this, some deal with it and some don't. Be the one that deals with it!!!

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

i think it probably happens to every single one of us! It cerrtainly has to me - several times.

I was like you were at first - no way was I going to be one of those who let things slide! But I was wrong - unrealistic! The band does not change our anatomy or our brains and we have to stay in control for the rest of our lives. Not easy.

I don't  have a magic solution. Wish I did. All I can say is that it has to come from inside you, and different things will get different people on track. me it is usually panic!

Hopefully others will give you ideas to try.

Best wishes - you have come so far, now do the rest!

My nutritionist is always a big help getting me back on track. My surgery was two weeks ago. But before surgery I needed to lose quite a bit of weight. I gained some over the holidays.Usually once I start to gain I give up. I stoped bringing "bad" foods into my house. That way if I stray it wouldnt be that damaging. I also keep up to date on my food logs on here. Once you start to see the numbers on the scales go down again it should motvate you to keep on track. Best of luck to you. You can do it.

Your not alone... after 1 year bandiversary I lost my mojo

then I got it back then the holidays came and i lost my dad and I have gained 15 pounds.. I'm working very hard to get them back off.

It's all mental! I have discussions with myself daily Lizette don't eat that.. get your butt to the gym... junk food is not an option.. it's not easy.. but it gets easier right now I'm at the one day of time mode..

Looking at old photos helps too .. see myself then and now.. reminds me how far I have come and how much I have accomplished.

I am trying (and succeeding) in accelerating my slow weight loss by doing the following...

1. Taking my supplements religiously
2. Logging my food and supplements
3. Increased protein to at least 90 gr per day
4. Keeping fat and carbs <50 per day
5. Taking in between 1100-1300 calories per day
6.  Limiting alcohol to 3 gl white wine per week.
7. 64 oz of water daily and tracking it in the food log
8. On the Wii every morning and working on balance and core strength
9. Supplementing my protein with an "instant pudding protein treat"- add 4 scoops of your meal replacement shake to one box of sf instant pudding, 2 cups 1% milk (you can use nf if you want) and divide into 5 four oz servings.  125 calories , 1.4 gr fat, 12.5 carb and 14.1 gr protein...I do butterscotch with vanilla powder, chocolate with chocolate and banana with either strawberry or chocolate.  Yummy and helps with the protein intake.

My back, which had been better, suddenly got angry so I need to accelerate through the next 10 lbs....I was fine losing 3-4 lbs per month, since I cannot exercise much, but when things get out of balance due to losing, it hurts!  I lost 2.5 lbs last week!

I am there too, I didn't gain any weight but I haven't lost what I wanted to at this point.  I started eating chips, sweets and all the stuff that goes down way too easy.

The first thing I did was attend a support group that the hospital has once a month, the topic was "getting back on track" and it inspired me.  The advice they gave us was the 2 week jump start diet:
1. replace 2 meals a day with a protein supplement: 20 grams of protein mixed with skim milk, water or low cal beverage
2. have one meal a day consisting of food: appropriate for your current phase
3. drink 8 8oz. servings of water each day
4. consume  the following liquids as desired: sugar free and low calorie beverages such as crystal light, sugar free kool-aid, fruit20, propel, decaf coffee or tea with sweetener, water, broth soup, sugar free popsicles, or sugar free gelatin
5. once you have completed the 2 week plan, resume you previous weight loss guidelines

HTH!
