I actually wasnt paying attention to your surgery date...your a "newbie"!  I would recommend not using a straw yet!  Drink when you can...maybe set a timer?  Healing is more important right now!

I drink sf kool-aide...about 70-80 oz...i usually do 32 oz before lunch ...the an hour after i drin till dinner then an hour after ...plus i get in some during my time on the eliptical ...it keeps your band supple so ive heard...

a typical day for me...

20oz of water on the ddrive into work (7:00am)

Followed by 2 cups of coffee

32oz of water before my oatmeal (between 9am - 11:30am)

lunch

32 oz of water in the afternoon (between 1pm-2pm)

afternoon snack

gym (another 20-30oz between 4:30-6:00pm)

home, then dinner


the 20oz in the morning and at the gym is drank from my 20oz water bottle that I use at the gym.  The 32oz is a water bottle with a straw.  I just know that i need 2 full bottles of each to get mydaily intake.

(all times are approximate but the routine rarely varies Mon-Fri.  Weekends are harder!)

7:45 am - coffee w/cream & splenda
9:00 am - on arrival at work - 20 ozs w/crystal light
10:00 am - 20 ozs w/crystal light
10:30 - eat my "breakfast" - 1 egg
11:30 - 20 ozs w/crystal light
12:30 - eat my lunch
2:00 - 20 ozs w/crystal light
3:00 - 20 ozs w/crystal light
8:00 - decaf coffee w/cream & splenda

and then I pee all flippin night long.  Good thing I'm always able to fall right back asleep!
