 Hi I'm new here,
I'm 50 years old and 100 lbs over weight and sick of being fat! I'm beginning to think about weight loss surgery. Thank God I'm still healthy despite my size. I kind of want to look into lap band because it doesn't seem as big of a surgery as the gastric sleeve. I'd like to hear your thoughts and experience.
Second I have Motion Picture insurance which doesn't cover weight loss surgery so I have to change insurance companies to kaiser. I'm kind of scared of leaving all my Dr's I've been with for 10 years. Has anyone used Kaiser for their surgery.
Please share all you know with me. I'm tired of being fat and don't know where to begin this process.
Thanks.
M

The band got me to goal, the sleeve will keep me there.

Welcome to this forum.

For the first part of your Q, please look back to these threads, all very recent. The first is a general discussion about the band - negatives as well as positives. the others are both form successful bandsters. I was 56 when banded, lost all my excess weight 109lbs in 15 months.

For the second part - sorry i am not in the US. Good luck!   Kate

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
