Allergan or Realize??? Which are u guys using

hey,
My surgery is coming up in a few weeks and when I went to sign my consents the NP asked whether I was getting the allergan band or the realize. I am planning on getting the allergan band but I would like to know if there are any major differences between the two.

I have the allergan it has more little tube that get filled then the realize band

I have the Allergan band. The Realize band was not available in NJ at the time of my surgery. If I had a choice now, I would get the Realize band. With my job, I am close to the Ethicon representative and I find that the Realizemysuccess program really helps my patients get support and answer any of their questions.

all the weight has been lost post-op..I LOVE MY BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

highest weight: 333 pounds (I know I gained after my last "weigh in" in the doctors office so probably it's more like 340 pounds)
current weight: 151 pounds (7/12/11)
I've been at goal (165 pounds) for 6 months now and now on maintence. I tend to go up and down depending on time of the month and such!

I left it up to my surgeon and he choice the Realize band. I haven't had any trouble with my band so far.

Lap Band on 03/17/10

There are lots of pictures online of what they look like. See if you can find one. Most people will argue that the one they have in them is better. Truly there is probably no difference. But if you like the look of one better than the other, go with it. I have allergan.

Highest Wt: 274 / LAP-Band Low: 180 / Sleeved at 233 / Goal: 160!

REALIZE Band on 06/05/09

They are very similar --- more similar than different, for sure.

My doctor has a sample of both in his office. I got to touch and feel each one.
The Realize Band felt a little more pliable to me --- and had a lower profile port.

I opted for the 11cc Realize Band and have not had any problems with it.

I have the small Allergan band & have had no problems whatsoever!!

I don't suppose it really makes any difference.

I have the realize band and one of my surgeon's partners told me the other day that he doesn't use the realize band and hasn't for a year because it stops working adequately after about a year and I can admit that mine isn't working all that well but I just keeping doing what I do instead of depending on it.

Left the band and rocking with RNY.
They say I have an eating disorder but I say, I have my eating in order.
