I'm not sure if they're really necessary, but I do wear one most of the time.  My doctor's office recommends them.  I bought mine from Lauren's Hope.  I wear it not only because of the band but more because of my penicilan allergy.  Mine simply reads my name, Penicillin Allergy, Lap Band Implanted and my ICE phone number.

I have one and try to wear it when I'm traveling or doing "dangerous" stuff like horseback riding and running.

Got mine from Road ID (www.roadid.com) For the price, these fit the most information. For LAP Band it's recommended to put something like "no blind NG tube" and your surgeon's number along with whatever else you might want.

Highest Wt: 274 / LAP-Band Low: 180 / Sleeved at 233 / Goal: 160!

I bought one off of ebay that fits to a bracelet. I'm pretty sure it was under $15 and they'll either say gastric lap band or you can get them engraved.

I have a friend who is going to make bead bracelets to hook them too 'cuz they're much cuter than a regular steel  i.d. bracelet. :)

if you get a charm or insert and want a bracelet, private message me with your email and I will send you her link once she starts making them.  (so you'd buy the charm or plate and then buy the bracelet)..

I think it's always a good idea to wear them if you are traveling alone, doing something risky (like the horseback riding that was mentioned above), etc.
