Slipped Band??
I am sorry for your loss. You are right, no one knows what I am going through, not even my sister. yes, she lost her mother as well but I was extremely close to mom and sis was not close at all.
I will be calling my Dr and starting all over again. I hate to go see my Dr because in my mind I have been a terrible band patient and have to fess up that I have not been behaving. I am most concerned over the cravings I am having for all the junk food. Like I stated before, when I am filled, I have NO desire for that stuff but now I eat wayyy too much of it.
Yes, I have no willpoer at this point!!
Thanks for your reply.

So sorry about your mother.
Sounds to me like you have just got too relaxed! With a slip, the usual symptom is extreme tightness.
Do you need a fill?
You are certainly not alone in finding that after a while, old habits and new pounds creep on! I am 4 1/2 years out and put on weight last year. The good news is, i got my restriction sorted, got back on track and lost almost all the gained weight.

Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
kate,
I am hoping it is just a fill I need. I see my NP at 8 A.M. tomorrow and hopefully she sheds some light on this. I gave it alot of thought over the weekend after reading so many replies,. yes, I can eat. No, I do not vomit everytime I eat. Yes I eat more than I should and I am much more hunry than usual. Yes, it has been more than a yr since my last fill.
I guess I am confused still on the fill stuff. lets say you get to your sweet spot. You have lost the weight you are going to lose. Would you still need a fill somewhere down the road again?
I did drop 1.5 punds over the weekend but I am not putting much stock into that. I tend to drop and lose a pound or two over night often.
Hopefully in 12 hours I will have a better idea of where I stand with this.
I am hoping it really is just a fill.
Thanks for the reply!

Can only speak for me. I maintained for 2 1/2 years without needing a fill. Then I decided I needed a very tiny one. Had it done and the next day - had a leak. Think may have had a gradual leak, pressure from more saline made it larger. So without that, might not ever have needed another fill.

sorry about your mom michele.
i have slipped twice.
both times i knew something was terribly wrong, as all of a sudden i was "tight" when i never was beforehand, couldn't keep solid food down, had reflux, & what my dr describes as an aspirated cough.
i never let it go more than a day or 2 & each time a complete unfill corrected the slip on it's own w/out surgical intervention.
my band tends to be very FUSSY (even completely unfilled) to stress - so i barely have just a bit of fill, as the band alone provides restriction for me.
you sound however like you might just need a fill??
how long has it been since you've seen your dr? mine likes to do endoscopes each yr, just keep check my band's placement - maybe a good checkup is what you need.

Hi,
it has been over a yr since I had a fill. I do not have reflux often but after reading your post, I do recall that once in a great while if I go to bed too soon after eating I do get some. But never during the day or on a regular basis.
I do see my NP tomorrow so hopefully they will have some answer for me and I will know if it is a fill or more that I need.
Thanks for the reply!

I had 2 slips last year and both times I wasn't able to keep solid food down...at one point I couldn't even keep soup or protein shakes down. At the very worst time I had reflux but most of the time I didn't, and I never had a night cough either...two of the major signs of a band slip. Both times I lost a ton of weight because anything I tried to eat, even slider foods, came right back up.
Go see your doctor, you may need a fill. I just lost my dad last month so my heart goes out to you...I've been eating to numb and since I have no fill while I'm waiting for my revision surgery, I've gained weight.

Michelle,
Ty for the reply. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. it is very hard to deal with to say the least. I lost my dad 22 yrs ago but losing my mom has thrown me for so much more of a loop.
hmmmm, now I wonder if there is need for concern since you did not have replux with your slip.
But I can eat..and eat like a horse!! Of course, when I think of it, it is probably not that much compared to when I was pre band but to me, it still seems like alot of food to eat now.
I will find out in the morning what I need.
Keep your fingers crossed that it is just a fill!!
