Why is everyone picking on me - The truth

It's not your board and you don't get to pick who participates.  I had a band longer than you have and probably most other people that post on this board.

What gives you the right to think you can tell people what when and where to say it?

I have a band and I had it this year. I am always searching information. However if I wanted info about a revision I would go to your board to ask it. You are purposally come to this board to offer your bad news and bad attitude towards the band. I didnt see anyone reply to you that was a band person that said "thanks for the information". Yes some banders may want this information and if they do they will come find you. However we like our forum to be helpful and positive to eachother. We dont need to hear how all the bad things, we think enough all on our own. I am glad your revision is working for you and im sad about your experience. However please do not post on our forum about your stuff unless its asked for. What do you think were really thinking when we see someone wit vsg positng about the band. We think why are you giving info here. We will visit you if we need you, otherwise your not really wanted and that makes logical sence. Have a great day!

Hun u probably WON'T see many of the band ppl post on here "thanks for the information". What u don't know is that I get, and I would assume that Lynn also gets a lot of PM's from bandsters that say that. Other bandsters don't post that on this forum generally b/c they see what a response we get. And even though they agree with us...............they don't want that "guilt by association" that they feel they will expericence.

I also get PM's from those considering the band that see my story and ask me about it also. Some stil get the band, others decide to have a more effective WLS after they hear about my band story and look at the revision forum.

If your band doesn't work for u....................who are u going to want to see posting on this forum? Only those with happy band stories? Or do u want a more realistic representation of bandsters???

I do agree everybody needs to be informed on what "can" happen during lapband surgery or after wards , but my biggest peeve with all of you and its just not you Lynn its all of you pushing your info all the time.

When somebody tells you I have two options this surgery or that surgery you peeps will still push your sleeve surgery on these poor people.

If they could have the sleeve surgery they would say it but more then half of them their insurance don't cover it but you still harass them people about your surgery .

Give it up . Unless YOU want to pay for the surgery for the sleeve then leave it alone.

It's like my surgery my parents helped pay for half of my surgery the lapband was what MY parents agreed to pay on and that is what I got.

And I still got harassed because I don't know what I was doing, or being self pay isn't a good idea, but you know what it's not your dang money so what difference does it make how much it cost or if two yrs down the line I have to pay another 15, 000 grand to get it done you are not paying for it so what makes the difference ??

I could have told my parents no and be sitting at my computer right now over 350 pounds and a two pack smoker a day boy that sounds real healthy don't it ????

Some people have no choice in what their surgery is and to come in here and say these stats say this or that it don't make no difference !!! They get what surgery that they can get either through somebody helping them pay for the surgery or their insurance company ?

what does them people do just sit around and not get nothing done because of all the bad stats you post about the band ?? They should just sit at their house 300 pounds plus or whatever they weight and just stay that way because they cant get the sleeve surgery done ?

I don't think so .

Post your info I dont care but  when people tell you I have these choices then stop pushing your stats down their throats that is when it gets ugly in here !!

OK where do we start - "Pushing information??" HEAVEN forbid, people should have that dreaded INFORMATION.....

I have never PUSHED anyone to have any surgery, I have simply provided factual information on why the band is the worst choice of the four available.

People don't have to give up, roll over and take what ever they're handed - they can fight for what is a better option for them. Yes it takes some perseverance, yes it may take some extra time and heck even a backbone but it can be done. In most cases all it takes is an appeal - the insurance company is expecting you to tuck tail and be GRATEFUL that they are bestowing any surgery on you. It doesn't have to be that way. No one should settle for a surgery they don't want, will cause them the greatest harm and worst results long term.

I would think that if had done your research and educated your parents on what provided the best outcome, the lowest long term complication rate and worked best with your eating habits - they would want whats best for you right? Not just what was cheapest? If you band stops working and starts damaging your stomach are they going to pay another $17k to have it removed?

I'd really love to see where I have PUSHED someone to get any surgery, I may urge them not to get the band but I've never said "YOU MUST GET XYZ?"

My parents and I both did research my aunt is a RN at a huge hospital and works with the docs that do all the surgery's so she knows alot also .

My parents will do whatever it takes to get me healthy and for some reason if the band stops working and I have to have it removed or if my port slips , or  something is leaking then I have the money to fix it.

I didn't go in this WLS with my eyes closed.  I have the money to do what needs to be done to be fixed

We all agreed the lapband was the best because of my eating habits.

My parents are not dumb before they even brought up giving me the money to get this surgery done they had folders full of paperwork and research from every WLS out there . We sat down as a family and went over everything and my aunt was included.

Like I said she is a RN works with these surgery's all day long I trust her advice and her knowledge of each surgery .

Then my other aunt that had the gastric was there .

I knew what I was getting into , I knew something could happen , but its what I chose to do . And my surgery was about 20 grand when it was all said and done with so its not a cheap surgery . I didn't go to Mexico to have it done .

You've already had surgery, so as I've said before - the information I have posted isn't helpful to you at all.

You've done your research, made your choice and have had your surgery. You've gone into surgery with your eyes open which is the most imporatant thing. You would be very, very surprised how many do not. To everyone that already have a band I wish them the best - I hope none of them ever have any problems. This isn't always the case so I will continue to share.

Good luck!

Hun I realize u 'THINK' the band is the cheapest way to go, but realistically it is usually NOT the case! A lot of us self-pay bandsters have found out the hard way. And even if it is the cheapest................well what good does it do u if your band DOESN'T work and u have payed all that money to NOT lose weight???
