My weight has not moved for 4 months. I do excercise every day but need to change it up.

now that I have developed a habit of exercise every other day going to the gym I find the best way to change up my routine is using a personal trainer once a month to help develope a new program also I find taking a class such as Zumba or spinning every couple of weeks keeps it new.

Hi,

One suggestion that I have that worked really well for me and I offer this advise all the time is to purchase a mini trampoline.  It is inexpensive, about $30.

You can jog on this at home anytime during the day. I started jogging on it for 15 mins in the morning, Then increased it and also added a night routine. I was up to half hour in the morning and an hr at night. I ended up losing weight and feeling great in the morning. You can do i****ching tv or listening to the radio. You do not have to worry about stopping at the gym or finding time since you can do this in the house at anytime.

To make it more challenging add ankle or wrist weights. I even did jumping jacks on it.

I also find excersing with someone will motive you. Now that I am engaged, I have someone to exercise with and keep me focused. Just recently my fiance bought me a bike and we went on an 8 mile bike ride along the erie canal. It was an amazing feeling and I did not even feel like I was exercising.

I found that i wasn't even in a rut, I wasn't doing anything. I contacted a local gym and they offered my group a discount for membership and no start up fee. I felt they truly understood our group. They also have great personal trainers, which are worth the money for setting up a plan. I am enjoying the gym even though it truly is work.

When I first had my surgery I knew I would never be one of 'those people' who made exercise their life. I promised myself that I would do what I knew I could and would do.

I do have an elliptical exercise bike combo (makes a great clothes hanger) and Yoga equipment and an Ab machine and weights and ... but though I use these on occasion the only exercise I do every day is walk.

Shortly after I had my surgery we acquired a dog, and since I walk my kids to school every day and the dog need to be walked this is what I do. I have a pedometer and wear it all the time I try for 30,000 steps a day and usually manage between 8-12 miles.

So am I stuck in a rut? Probably,  but I knew I would never stick to an exercise regimen or be able to afford a gym membership so I feel good just getting out and doing what I can do!

I try to stay with exercise classes.  Switching classes up is a great way to keep exercising and to also keep things varigated.  I do go to one class on a consistant basis, and that's my Zumba Class.  There's another girl in the class that I met via class and we go religiously every Saturday even when we feel out of sorts. I enjoy having someone who is as dedicated as I am to rely on to always be there.  Exercising regularly is a lot easier when your doing it with a friend.

I too get in a rut from time to time.  I walk everyday either indoor or out.  I do like the on demand workout sessions they have.  I just recently learned that they are offering Zumba classes in our area I might step out of my comfort zone and try that.  Sounds very interesting.

Everyone gets in a exercise rut .  Try new things even if they may sound like something you may not want to try. Instead of swimming do a water arobics class.  Call a friend and tell them you are stuck and have them pick something for both of you to do.  Change your lifting workouts every so often. Work with a trainer.  A good one will help keep you motivated and keep you from getting bored.  If you do not do it and change up what you are doing then your boredom and lack of success will deepen. You need both strenght training and cardio.  Do not let fear of success and change scare you into not getting back on traack.

I do two things to make sure that I don't get into an exercise rut..... I work out with others and do their routine as well.... and I take a variety of classes at the gym.

Exercise was not one of my favorite things before my Lap Band surgery, but I knew before I embarked on this new journey over 2 years ago that incorporating exercise into my life on a regular basis had to be part of my new lifestyle. I started working out in the gym before my surgery 3 days a week. I also joined a local Curves that is only 1 mile from my home and I have the Wii fit gaming system. Over the last year I have been working out 3 days a week with one of those days working out with a personal trainer. I also walk at least 1 mile a day and wear a pediometer. I have no reason not to exercise only excuses. For me varying my exercise keeps me on track. I was able to start working out with my trainer because I asked for gift certificates to her business at Christmas.
For me exercise has definitely attributed to my sucessful weight loss journey.
