My fickle fickle band

I have been banded for 6 months now. I am very happy and proud of the weight I have lost thus far. However, I am now at a stall. I knew that it was bound to happen, but it is so darn frustrating. I've tried changing up my diet a bit without success. Since my last fill a month ago, I have only lost maybe 2 pounds. I have changed my exercise habits quite a bit as I am on week 5 of the Couch Potato to 5K training program. Before my last fill,  I wasn't exercising very much. Does anyone has any advice for me? How do I get the pounds to start dropping off again? I am not going to give up, but am just really frustrated with this stall. Thanks for listening and for any advice you all may have.

My advice that worked for me.  Is if you have been keeping your measurements measure now see if something has changed (then its not really a stall all together).  I would put the scale away.  These helped me out of my 2 month no loss but lost 10 inches stage.

Keep up the good work.  I'd also try to do some weight training to build up your muscles so when you do run you'll burn more calories.

Just a couple of thoughts.

I think I will take your advice and put my scale away and stick to the measurements. I am scheduled for my next fill next Wednesday and my doc will be updating my measurements from pre-op to now. I'm excited to see the change in numbers. Thanks for your help!
Btw...great job on your weight loss!!!

Also, when you gain muscle it actually is more dense than fat and so you may lose fat but gain muscle and not lose weight.  The measuring is a good idea.  Have fun!

Hey Niki  Try not to let the stalls get you down!  Starting an exercise program will often stall out your weight loss for a bit as you adjust and so will losing weight quickly.  You didn't say how much you've lost so far but each time we lose about 10% of our body weight it is common to stall out for a bit while your metabolism adjusts to your new weight.  I always took the stalls as a bit of time to evaluate how things were going, recalculate my caloric needs at my new lower weight, and allow my body to settle in to the new weight as well.  It seemed for me that I'd go a few weeks or even months without losing but the entire shape of my body would change in that time.  Like the weight I had left to lose was being redistributed more evenly over my body or something.  Take those measurements and keep a smile on your face!!

Hi Niki!

I've had my fair share of stalls..all I can tell you is keep on truckin. It will eventually end and you will lose again. Just keep an eye on your calories, fat, portions and carbs..sounds like your workouts are going well. Good luck! -Nikki

Hey There,

Don't feel so bad. Like everyone else says.... We all lose differently. It takes time to try not to make yourself compare your weight loss to others. I deal with this big time myself. I have been at a stand still for 6 months. I lost my weight in the first 6 months and then NOTHING!!!!

I am at 10.5cc in a 11cc band. I am scared to get another fill because some days I am tight and can eat very little but then there are days I can eat lots and lots of food.

All I can say is do your measurements and go based on that.  I can SEE a difference in my shape but the freaking weight will not go down. If I had a choice, I rather SEE the difference than the weight. The inches is what matters in the cloths is what I have been told.
