Daughters port coming through skin

Nikki is doing ok. She is still the hopsital this morning her white blood count was up.
She had a hard time getting her insurance to cover the surgery also. When I called them and told them that this could cause major damage to her body if the infection spreaded. They put me on hold and came back and told me it would be covered. I got her to get her insurance lady at work to call right back within a few minutes and verify everything before they backed out.
The reaon that it was coming through is because the Dr that put it in never stitched it or attached it to anything. Mine is attached to a muscle wall as they are suppose to do.
What I am trying to figure out is why a Dr would just put the port in there to float around it could of went in the other direction and cause some major damage to some of her internal organs.

I'm so glad your daughter is doing well.  What a scary thing to have happened and I hope someone follows up with her original surgeon.  Egads to think what other damaged could have happened is beyond belief.  I hope your daughter is feeling better soon and that she has no futher problems from this.  Will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers!

I hope your daughter is doing well. I have read and I'm not sure where so I will have to search for it again but European doctors do not always stitch the port in place. I hope she heals fully!

 can you say malpractice?

I hope her recovery is quick and she's back on the road very soon.

It is possible that it was stitched in originally, but the stitches popped, or pulled away. Something that will never be known.
Remember of course the port/band is a foreign body, and some body's will reject it, just like my daughters belly ring after 2 years her body decided to reject it and pushed it right through the loop that was holding it. Needless to say no more belly ring for her.
