I was going to tell you to take picture too, but Nikki beat me to it.  Any time you have sores like that if you take pictures, and probably see the doctor about it, that would help you in getting insurance approval for a tummy tuck.  Your doctor needs to document the sores for insurance purposes.

Some people might not support my WLS decision.
Those people remind me of slinkys. Not good for much but it would would bring a smile to my face if someone pushed them down the stairs.

I would actually visit your PCP and let them document the rash.  With insurance companies who knows if photo documentation would be enough.   I hope the rash clears up soon!

You might need an antifungal medication instead of an antibiotic medication.  Something like Lamisil or other medications made for athletes foot.

Thanks! I wrote it down and will look for it today. I did google and as you suggested athlete's foot suggestions came up. I would never have thought of that.

I used to have this a lot and a cortisone cream really helped, although at one point just before surgery I had to use a prescription antifungal. My mom also gets this and the Doctor told her to get an OTC powder called Zeasorb. It's very, very light and really absorbs moisture. Also laying with no clothes on did help, but just before surgery I was freaked out they wouldn't do it if they saw it!

Hi Krista,
After you shower, use a blow dryer with cool air and get the area as dry as you can. Then use Soothing Care Medicated Powder made by monistat.  It will keep the area dry all day long--I use it at 5am and I'm still dry when I go to shower in the evening or the next morning.  This stuff is absolutely AMAZING!  Definitely take pictures though as evidence of the need for PS in the future. Hope you find some relief.

Krista,

I get that kind of rash a lot, especially in the summer when my skin is hot and moist.  My doctor diagnosed it as a yeast infection and told me to use Monistat or similar OTC creams (sold with feminine hygiene products).  You have to be really faithful about using the cream and keeping the area aired out, though.

I've also taken an oral medication for it (one dose, prescription only) which worked much faster, but eventually the rash comes back.   I've tried taking photos of the rash to document it for my insurance company, but the photos are lousy.  I really ought to have my GYN take the photos and document it officially anyway.

Maybe some day I'll win the lottery and be able to afford a tummy tuck on my own.  I guess I'd better go buy a lottery ticket now, huh?

I just had a major bout of this the day of my surgery and i got an amazing script however over the counter stuff ive used all the anitfungal creams but they can burn a little.

I would suggest trying this antifungal powder that you used to be RX and is not over the counter.  It's called Zeasorb.  Good stuff!  you may have to ask the pharmacist where to find it.  Usually CVS and Riteaid will have it.

Hope you get some relief.  And like the others said...dry your tummy really well after showering.  For me when this get's bad during the warmer months - showering in the morning and in the evening also helps.
