What muscle is the port sewn to?  I just picked up a heavy box and hurt my port area. The port kind of popped out and I pushed it back in with my fingers. I have already had a flipped port (July 2008) and had it sewn back in place. Could I have flipped it again?
The port is attached to the rectus muscle.  It's certainly possible that it flipped again, but there is no way to know without either an Xray or a fill.

I know for a couple months after surgery we need to be careful about lifting but will we always have the limits to what we can lift?

No restrictions in the long run, we tell our patients not to lift for a month, that's all.

Lately I have been reading about gall bladder problems. From stones to low functioning leading to removal. I am not experiencing any problems now and I hope not to. I was thinking of asking my surgeon at my next visit if there was a way to check and make sure everything is okay or do I have to wait for something to occur? Is this something he can deal with or should I be asking that to my primary?

I was banded on January 9th.

Thanks

There is no value in imaging a gallbladder that is not causing symptoms.  Even if you had stones, if they were asymptomatic they wouldn't need to come out.

Dr. Curry,  I was approved in 2006 for the lapband and had my date scheduled.  Unfortunately I had to cancel due to a diagnosis of Hodgkins Lymphoma that was initailly detected very early due to the chest xray I had as a preop band requirement.  I am happy to say that I had a minimal course of chemo, and my scans have been clear since Sept. 2006.  My oncologist and PCP have both said I am good to go with bariatric surgery at this point.  Is there any reason why the band may not be the best procedure for me as a cancer survivor?  Would something like VSG be a better fit?  Any info or studies one way or the other would be helpful to me.  Thanks, Littleway

I have an employee who was diagnosed and treated for Hodgkin's after she was banded.  She hasn't had any problems related to her Hodgkin's at all.  Here is a link to her  - www.journeylite.com/testimonials.php.  I'm sure she would be happy to talk to you - email me with your addy and I'll see if I can put you two in touch.

I had my surgery on the 22nd of Dec. From the 22nd to Jan. 22 i had lost 36 lbs. that is when i received my 1st fill.  but that's been it. i was fine when i was only doing the liquid diet but the minute i started on the solids it was like my body said "no more". I was delayed with my 2nd fill because my dr. was ill. so the next fill was on March 11th. Since then i really don't feel like i've received a fill or any different. i have a small band, and so far 6 cc in it. when it was put in it came with already 3 cc and my first fill he put 2 cc then 1 cc. But i'm already ready for another fill and i'm going this monday the 4/6.  Is this normal?  I'm keeping my calories around 900-1100 a day. I just bought an elleptical and doing that too.  I'm being pretty faithful with what is going in my mouth and i'm eating 1/2 of what i use to eat. i can't understand why i'm not loosing anything. am i doing something wrong?  i see all these wonderful results from people on this site and i can't understand why i'm not following  the same results. i'm getting frustrated the same way before i got the surgery and the reason i went with this surgery instead of bi-pass. now i'm wondering if i should have just done the bi-pass. Please help!
