Should I pay this ticket or fight it?
duh sorry I missed the elkton,MD part no coffee on board yet.
knowing now what happened to me I would have taken a lawyer with me.
Heck, one lady was not even there had her attorney appear for her and they dropped all charges.
it is worth the investment to keep from having your car insurance jacked up.
Just goes to show you you can't get true justice, but you can buy it for a price.
Look at OJ?? guess it bets other systems in the world, but lots of flaws in it too.
Good luck.
I always think when I see traffic stops don't you have some real crime to be fighting.??Heck I can show ya were the drug dealers live..

You might want to get your speedometer checked to see if it is accurate. That happened to me once and my speedometer was off. The officer also put down the wrong color for my car. I went to court, but they still made me pay the fine and take a class. In Calif. you can take the class on line now. You might want to check this out. I was driving a fairly new BMW and a police officer client of mine said that is why I got the ticket. Remember when you fight it the officer has to take time off to go to court. Sometimes they don't show up and everything is dismissed. Good luck.
Thank you Lee for your feeback, yea I think that is one of the factors I got pulled over because I was driving my BMW and they are high performance cars...so I am sure sports cars are magnets to be pulled over too!! I hear that a lot of cops don't show up, but we will see, I was just on the fence about going to court, especially if I go and end up getting points too...I don''t think I will have to go to driving school since the ticket was given to me in another state. But I sure was NOT going 90 miles per hour as state on my ticket, that is what I am considering detesting. Also I don't think the state police can stop you from going a little over the speed limit, I think they give you sort of a grace like 5-10 miles over is ok.....this is why I assumed 78 was safe.
they will report it to your home state, so the points and all will follow you. I had to take a class too I took it online in about and hour and had to go to the office of the driving school and take a test and pay them 25,00 for it. but if I didn't do it they would suspend my drivier's lic.
I have been driving a long time since I was 17 and have had tickets you could count on one hand and still have fingers left over.
I think I woke the officer up when I went by or made him spill his coffee and drop his donut LOL!
some states don't have any grace zone. 1 mile over they get ya.
In MD most of the time they don't look up unless it is someone doing 10 miles over the limit.
or they have not got their quota of tickets done then look out.
I guess the real criminals are doing the speed limit so they don't get pulled over, Hmm a new crime fighting method. pull over all the ones doing the speed limit and they will find all the drugs and mess LOL!
If you were on 95 north, the snow highway, they saw your bmw and thought oh boy maybe a dealer. Your make and model of car gets ya tagged .

My DH works for an auto insurance company selling auto insurance. Do not plead "no contest". Either pay the ticket or plead not guilty. A "No contest" plea will have the same effect on your record as guilty, as far as insurance is concerned.
I've heard that if you go, plead not guilty,if the officer doesn't show, thay can't convict you. My dad successfully fought a speeding ticket before. .... I would fight it.
(I like to argue!)
Good luck!

78 in a 65? I'd pay the ticket. You could, however, write to the judge and ask him for reduced points or ask if there's some course you could take to get the points either reduced or erased from your record. Fortunately, our state doesn't do points. I understand your point about others driving faster than you and that your cruise was set. BUT...you were going over the limit. Even at 78mph, that would cause them to pull you over. It probably wasn't your brake hitting that made him pull you over. They call in your license plate number to their dispatch before they pull you over. Best of luck with your decision.
Thanks for opinion, but I think I am going to try my luck and fight it...I have clean driving record and NO criminal record and I want it to remain that way.....so if they called in my license plate it was clean, I want it to remain that way.....driving 78 miles per hour IS PRETTY NORMAL in a 65 mile zone heck most drive 85-90 that is more NORMAL....if you drive up interstate 95...no one drives 65 unfortunately law or not.....you will get left in the dust so I assumed going a little over will help blend me into traffic and prevent other drivers from constant flashing me, I am really not a fast driver anyway...

I would not state I put my car on cruise control to the judge. especially since that automatically states you made a choice to speed.
I would go in a state the case of keeping up with the other cars to maintain safety since cars were tailgating you!!
I also would politely ask the judge when the last time the officers radar was calibrated since this would be of help.
Here in California going more than 15 miles over the speed limit is a lot more than $290. Also school is something to choose as well since the insurance on anyone going more than 15 miles over the limit jumps too high!
Good luck!
