This is the first time I have had a real bad headace since surgery June 24 and I was wondering if BC or Goody powder would have an affect on the band. I know both have some asprin in them but the medicine I ususally talke for my head can't be crushed and I don't feel like going to hospital to get a shot in the butt for my head. Any thoughts would be great this is something I should have thought about before surgery but I have not had a migraine for over 5 months go figure!!!!

I've had maybe two headaches since being banded and I've use liquid tylenol.  A migraine though would need something stronger than that.  Sorry, I can't help.  Hope you feel better soon.  Lori

I begged my Dr. to let me take by BC powders because I get a lot of headaches.  He said no.  I have only been allowed Tylenol.  I will say that since surgery I haven't had nearly as many headaches.

I am so sorry you are hurting.  I understand.  You can try putting an ice pack on the back of your neck.  That sometimes workes for me.  Also, believe it or not, I tried Head On and it works pretty well.  Someone gave it to me as a joke but i tried it and it gave temp. relief to my migrane.  You can get it at Walgreens.

Good luck and feel better soon.

I've had them and I'm not going to say that they won't irritate you b/c they burn for a minute and I've had my band long enough to be completely healed. I also get migraines and used Imitrez nasal spray until I could take my regular meds.

BC powder contains aspirin and the use of aspirin is discouraged among bandsters because chronic use might lead to erosions and ulcers.  However, the use of a few day's worth is probably not a big deal.  Lots of doctors allow patients to use NSAIDs (which are like aspirin) for pain from their periods.  However, studies have shown that if you take one Prilosec per day (you can get it over the counter) on the days you take the aspirin, the risk of problems is less. So, if you're going to take the BC powder, take the Prilosec, too.

Goody powder contains the same active ingredient as Tylenol, acetaminophen.  It also contains aspirin, so if you take this, I would take the Prilosec, too.

I take both and have never had a problem with them as long as I wash them down completely with water.
