women 5'3 to 5'5 - Weight & Clothing size
Hi All,
I'm trying to get a "rough" idea about when I'll be ready to hit a new clothing size. I know that everyone is different, but I think it'll give me a decent idea.
Like right now.. I'm at 248.5 and (depending on the store) fit into most 20's and a few stretch 18's, and a 1x shirt.
H/C/G: 298/170.4/160 (H=5'5) @ Dr's goal 5/23/2012. Revison surgery 5/26/2011 convert from band to bypass due to slipped band.
Everyone is so different......but I am 5-4 and started at 237.5 in an 18/20. I hit a 16W around 220, and I hit a 16 (regular, not women's) around 200 and wore that down to 188/190....Started wearing my 14's and XL's around 188-190 and now that I'm at 176, I'm fitting into some 12 and Larges. It seems to go MUCH faster as the sizes get smaller!!
Disclaimer: (without trying to sound like an a$$) I wear fairly expensive clothes, and as people have mentioned, the more expensive the store, the larger the sizes usually run. For example, my size 12 pants I am so proud of (that are BAGGY!) are from Neiman Marcus. If I went into a GAP or Old Navy, I might not wear a 12. I'm afraid I might still be a 14 or even a 16.
Who knows? It's so freaking complicated with women's clothes!! Hope this at least gives you a small idea!
I started at 280 in a 24 (comfortably) 22 (some kinda tight) and a 3x t-shirt, 22/24 shirts Now at 248.5 (we're the same weight) and the 24's either fall off or are really really baggy, some of 22's fit comfortably, some are still kinda snug (most of my jeans are Old Navy jeans), and now in a 2x-t-shirt, and some 18/20 shirts. So far I'm still in my before clothes I had a small range from 20-24, I am looking forward to buying 18's!!!!

I agree that every body is very different. I'm 5'4" and started out at 280 in (tight) size 24 pants and (tight) 22/24 shirts. I'm at 237 now. I still wear some of the 24 pants because they are only a little loose in the waist -- but are HUGE through my hips and lower belly area. Actually, this morning I put on a pair of 24s and had to stop and laugh at myself -- I looked like I had borrowed a pair of pants from Robin Williams in the 80's. Needless to say, I changed quickly.
Size 22 pants fit comfortably, and are getting loose. I should be in 20s within the next 10 pounds lost. My shirt size dropped suddenly from a 22/24 or 3X to an 18. I usually shop at The Avenue, Lane Bryant, Dress Barn or Torrid. Sweetdaisy, I didn't even know Nieman Marcus had clothes in my size!! I think its time to go shopping!

I have not had surgery yet but I can tell you that for the last 15 years I have been in 22s and 24's but since I have started insulin I have not gained one lb but I have gotten bigger and have now had to go to 4 and 5 x, I don't expect to change sizes until I get down to about 220. I still wear some 22's and 24 jeans. I can also say that never in my life could I wear anything that zipped in the pants line. Hips bigger than waist and if I get them to fit my hips then the waist is way too big. This was way before I even went into plus clothes so I really have no idea of what to expect other than to lose weight. I will deal with it as it happens and hope that I have enough sizes in storage to do me for a while so I don't have to buy new clothes at every size change.
