I know that Ketosis changes the smell of urine - it does this to me too - and although I wouldn't really describe it as maple syrup smell - it's a sweet smell. Ketosis is a good t hing - but if it really bothers you - call your doc. Good Luck!@ Val

To be sure, you can buy ketosis strips at the drug store, pee on them, and see what they show.

Yeah...I've used those neat little things before that turn different shades of purple. Used to use them when I was dieting. Need to get some more of those!

Linsey, If you continue having this problem, I would call the doctor. You could have high blood sugars that develop even if you have never had problems previously. A person can develop diabetes from other things -- just don't let it go on for a long time without being checked. Are you more tired than usual, blurred vision, increase thirst or urination, increased unexplained weight loss? It's mostly likely NOT DM, but just don't let it go unchecked for a long period of time. K?
