Your so sweet taking such good care of him. I have doves in one of my hanging baskets they have two eggs. They laied eggs in my basket last year and it was very exciting to watch them grow up and fly away.

One year I had something nesting in a hanging basket on my porch. The "mama" was a dove, but the babies grew up to be sparrows! I don't know if she stole the nest from the mother sparrow or if the mother sparrow laid her eggs in the doves nest!

More than likely the sparrow kicked out the doves eggs and laid her own---they're known for doing this. Your baby is too cute, I love the beak. We get Starlings in the back yard for about 2-3 days in a row, they're "grubbing" for whatever they can find and then poof they're gone.
