Hello, I live in Shreveport LA, and I basically called every bariatric clinic in the state that accepted Medicaid, and with no luc****il finally reached Oshner Hospital and their Bariatric Clinic, I have surgery scheduled for Nov. and am so glad it is finally happening, Dr. Richardson and staff have been wonderful. Never thought process was going to be long but it was all worth while, and worth the sacrifices that I had to make, for start driving 5 hours to New Orleans, was very tiring. My first visit was Oct. 5 of 2013, for WL seminar hosted by nutrisionist and Dr. Richardson. If I can help anyone with any questions that u might leave message

Hello all,
I haven't been on here in a while but I need some help. In July 2009 I had my gastric sleeve done at University Hospital with Dr. Glen Stein and my insurance was La. Medicaid. Well that was five years ago and the weight is coming back! At my lowest weight after surgery I was 155, I am now 210. I want to get a revision or the switch. Dr. Steib is MIA and I still have my medicaid, so who can I go to? Ochsner, West Jeff? Any suggestions? I will travel if need be. Any info will be helpful. Thanks
There are many people, members and non-members, that come to the OH community wanting assistance to have weight loss surgery. One of the challenges many people encounter is "The Medicaid Maze" so we wanted to provide information about the difficulties for those people and from two leading bariatric surgeons.
We welcome your experiences by leaving a comment at the end of the article.
I know this is soooooo old, but I start a AT&T tomorrow and this is li the first thing I want to find out....I will be full time DSL tech support rep so I am eligble for beneifits day 1...I am excited. But unfortunately my 16 year old son has had this surgery suggested to him by SEVERAL people. He is huge but his body just can not handle the weight and it is effecting him physically, mentally and emotionally and I have found a great doctor who works primarily with teens so I just want to make sure he will be covered as well.
Thank you so much for the info!
Angela
