Hi ladies, I have posted on here a few times, but not lately. I was having to wait till jan 2010 to start my journey. I have the referral letter with me to fax in the morning. I spoke to a lady at one of those numbers( there are so many I have found ) and she said once she gets the letter I can call back and set up my first aptt in april. I can not even start to tell you what a god send this is. My bmi is 56, and im only 5"2. So heres wishing yall some luck, and please keep me updated once the ball starts rolling for yall.

Hi Lisa,
I called the office on Yesterday and was referred to another Doctor. Her name is Dr. Angela Charron. Dr. Steeb's office was directed to direct new patients to her. Problem is she doesn't answer the phone and its a voice mail deal and.................... she isn't subscribed to the voice mail service so that renders it a very ineffective phone call. Her number is 504-903-3333. Also, I was told that Dr. Steeb will not be back in until late march or early April.
So on today I called Dr. Steeb's office back and told them I wanted to see him. The nurse was very nice, she took all my info and has me registered already. I am so Happy!
I called my primary care and am having her call me on tomorrow so I can give her the fax number and have her send in my referral and any other necessary information that will help my case. Brenda

Hi,
Thanks for your response to my question. I just don't understand why when I call UHC, they always tell me that our plan excludes lap band or gastric bypass surgery for morbid obesity. However, I have 4 physicians who deems this surgery as medically necessary. Once, I loose enough weight I have to have both knees replaced. My orthopedic surgeon doesn't want the proceed
with the knee replacements until he is sure my weight won't make
the knees worse. I also have other health issues that would be beneficial with surgery. I have heard others that work
at the Lafayette call center that the surgery was only an exclusion for our center only do to the fact that for the first two tears when the surgery was covered, some doctors were forging medical documents to cover some Att employees who didn't meet the criteria for the surgery. I will be attending a seminar on the 26th to begin the process.

I am on Medicaid, and in live in the Hommond area... I lived in New Orleans, but since the storm I've re-located. I was excited to read there is a Dr. that accept Medicaid for the weight loss surgery. I see at LSU?? I'm out of the loop. Well be calling! Thank you.
