Topic: Weight Loss Surgeons who take Medicad in the New Orleans/Baton Rouge areas

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site and my names Shelly.

I was wondering if anyone here could be of some help.

I'm very interested in having the Gastric Sleeve done; I'm nearing 300lbs with a BMI of 53, and suffer all the aches and pains that come with being so overweight. The thing is I'm on the Medicad program (AmeriHealth Caritas Louisiana) and can't find any doctors or clinics that accept Medicad. I did manage to find one doctor who is on the West Bank; a Dr. Treen, but it seems I'd never be able to see him because every time I call to make an appt I get transferred to a voicemail, and even though I leave a message asking to return my call they never do. So I'm giving up with that doctor.

So anyone know of any other doctors or clinics? Thanks!

UPDATE I finally heard back from Dr. Treen's office and was informed that he no longer accepts Medicad.

I haven't had my appt yet but Dr. Dominguez is my surgeon. I live in north Louisiana and will be traveling 5 hours for the surgery. I haven't had experience with Dr. Dominguez personally but the patient coordinator is wonderful. She has helped me and answered every question I've had. 

Currently I am doing my 6 month supervised diet.

I am having the gastric sleeve surgery on sept. 30, 2015..My doctor is Dr. Bourgeous and he is a doctor at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, LA..My insurance's are Medicare and Medicaid and he accepted it.

Dr.Drahota,Lawrence at Blue Valley Hospital in Overland Park Kansas does weight loss surgery.He excepts medicaid/Mo.health Net  and offers a night before surgery free hotel room.Medicaid patients can get an out of town transportation free from LOGISTICARE.The medical team will advise transportation from out of state or town medically necessary.phone #(913)378-1365.. wonderful experience,great surgeon.Highly accredited.
