Topic: Plastic Surgeon in the New Orleans area - can anyone recommend one?
Hi everyone. I live in Nashville but may be having my plastics done in New Orleans (closer to family). Can anyone recommend a plastic surgeon that have worked with alot of weight loss surgery patients in removing excess skin?

Thanks in advance!

Hey gang...i hate to be the bearer of bad news...but i don't think Doc is coming back.  Doc isn't even Doc right now.  His "medical emergency"  is that his license to practice was suspended for the THIRD TIME!  Some folks on another board did some investigating and it seems that Doc has a bit of a problem with drugs and alcohol.  he will not be back on April 1.  He won't be back at least until July or August IF at all.

So i guess this is the end of my WLS journey.  I have been praying for God's wisdom as to what to do.  Considering I've lost a great deal of weight on my own.  And I think I got my answer today.  I wish all of you the best of luck and keep your heads up.  'specially you, froggie, crystal and savannah.  good luck girls!

i wonder if i should even bust my tail to finish these stupid nutrition assignments?  wasted all that gas and time and stress and money...and for what..a junkie surgeon?

well ladies I guess you have heard the news about Dr. Steeb. He's license are suspended and are not going to be reinstated until 5/31/10. Boy this is scary.

i had just talked to Gayle the office supervisor last week, and she only told that Devin is no longer there and that he will be back on april 1st.

I went on th site and checked his license out, and they are suspended. I am scared to let him do the Gastric Sleeve on me.

but I feel like there is still hope for us. So stay encouraged.

Dr. keith chung is a great. I know several people who used him and everything went well with all of them. So if you choose him I think you will be making a good choice.....

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

WOW!! I am so sorry for you and all his patients!!  But im glad you found out now...not later.   It sounds like the person who posted just before me has a great surgeon....I hope they can take the records of what you have done already and just transfer them to the surgeon she has suggested.   This is a rough enough emotional journey to go one with out the added nonsence your going through. I hope you dont let this discourage you cuz this is so worth it in the long run.    Just rely on this site and others in our area and do what you have to do to get what you want.   We're all here for your and routing for your success!!           Donna

Dr. Steeb's license has been suspended.

No one knows if or when he will return.  This is the 5th time his license has been on the line.

This is a bad referral.

There is a post on the main board with more specific information on why he has been in trouble -- drug and alcohol abuse that impairs the central nervous system and therefore put his patients at severe risk and/or injury.

ACK!

I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side.  The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.

Have you called Surgical Specialists of Louisiana?

Dr. Thomas Lavin is in New Orleans but there is an office in Lafayette.

I just posted about him in an above post to recommend him to a patient whose doctor has had his license suspended and you can read more about my opinion of him there as well.

He has a video on the site so you can see him talk and interact too.

I am his favorite patient!  :-)   LOL

I hope this helps!

I'm sure you've come to realize that it is much better to discover this now.  They put you to sleep and a man with a knife is in the room!  Ack!

I'm his favorite patient!!!  LOL

Thomas Lavin, MD is the BEST bariatric surgeon in New Orleans (in the USA IMO)!

He's a National Proctor (he teaches other doctors how to do laparscopic gastric banding and bypass).

I have always felt like I was his only patient in the world and he had all day to talk with me.  He is a man of great character.  He knows his skill but he's humble.  His bedside manner is stellar.  He's also handsome!  LOL

He has two offices; one is Mandeville/Covington and one in Metairie on Severn Avenue.  He has clinic on Thursdays.  He's on staff at several hospitals both Northshore and Southshore.

Call them on Monday!  :-)

PS  His staff is almost as fantastic as he!  I've known his nurse practitioner my entire life.  Don't "weight!"  Check out the website and call on Monday!  :-)

Best wishes to you!
