Ok Here it is, The cold, bold facts. I called Dr, Steeb's office today and was told he was never returning there is no replacement doctor, and that the bariatric program has been cancelled at LSU permanently. I was also informed that letters are being mailed out below is what is posted at Louisiana state board of medical examiners site.

I am 29 years old with two small kids. I am obese and there seems to be no way to fix it. I am tired all of the time and have shortness of breath. I can barely keep up with my kids and i am extremely depressed. I have five herniated discs in my back and thinks its from being overweight. I have contacted the only doctor in louisiana that i was aware of that took medicaid. Dr. Steeb, and they said that hes on medical leave so they dont have a surgeon and they dont know when he will be back. Does anyone know of anyone else that take Medicaid for weight loss surgery and how do i go about getting approved for it? Could i possibly go to anyone and then medicaid would reimburse me? this is all so new to me but i am needing help. I live near baton rouge so someone within a couple of hours from me would be great. Thanks!

I have an appt set up for April 22.. You would think that the office would notify me, being I'm on medicaid. I'm going to have to call and cancel the appt, or it will use up one of my 12 annual visits.
What a huge bummer. I was thinking I could finally get back to my right weight and enjoy a meaningful active life with my family, now all that is shot to Hell.
The only option I have left is to revert back to my normal weight lose plan whi*****ludes eating 2 pieces of bread, one tblsp mayo, and 1 can chunk light tuna a day.... and thats it. I did it before and lost 57 lbs in the first 8 weeks. I just dont feel like going through all that again but im going to. My present weight is just at 280 pounds. I am starting my STARVATION REGIME FIRST THING TOMORROW. I will keep in touch with this site on the weekly bases and let you know my progress. I love you all and wish you all the best of luck.

I wont be going back to Dr. Steeb. I can no longer trust him as a surgeon let alone MY surgeon. I will have to go another route. IT JUST SUCKS but, OH WELL. Things happen for a reason. I want to still stay in touch girls. Im off to do some research I WILL find another surgeon. ;)

would you really want someone who could possibly be under the influence of drugs or someone who is drunk in the operating room operating on you? i wouldn't. maybe something else will come up. This guy has been on probation for FIVE years! and he was suspended in january. Doesn't look good for dr. Steeb. It's the end of hte road for me...my medicaid expires in August.
I wish you guys luck...PROMISE me girls that you won't let this guy operate on you even if he comes back. I did find the guy who had surgery with him before. I didn't talk to him, but i lurked on his myspace page...he hasn't lost a whole lot of weight and has had a couple of problems. Please! It isn't worth it. This doctor isn't a dream come true anymore. He's a nightmare!
