I know more than likely it will involve appeal but I am wondering what BCBS DRs do the sleeve in the Lafayette area?  I used Dr Borland but he does not take it and I have 2 friends wanting to try to get it approved before they go as far as cash pay

Hello Patti ... long time, no see.

I'm sorry to hear you are having hernia surgery. My incisional hernia was from my c-section and not related to my bariatric procedures. I've had four repairs and they are pretty much not fun.

I hope you have a smooth and uneventful recovery.

Best,
Frances

My husband was on the road driving during Katrina and I remember what it was like to be an "occassional single parent." This was NOT fun at all. I will be thinking about you during those tough times.

Exercise and liquids will be a big boost to you and finding a way to deal with the anxiety and stress surrounding you. Do what it takes and don't feel like a wuss if you have to ask for help.

My best,
Frances

Thanks for the response Frances. I am going through lot right now, and on top of that my husband has been offshore for about three weeks. I am now acting as a single mother while he is offshore. The weeks that he is home I lose weight fine, which leads me to think that I am going through companion withthdrawl. lol I do exercise, but not everyday. I need to put more time into exercising and getting my liquids in. Other than that I am ok. If you here if any walks in the New Orleans area please keep me informed.

Thanks for responding,

Channell

There are a lot of factors that play a role in our weight loss and stress is on the list, but it's not the only item to try to get a handle on.

Before I start sounding preachy, I want to tell you that I have lost a little over 100 pounds and my weight loss has slowed to a crawl and I had a two month plateau. I am evaluating everything about my routine including:

Exercise - I workout everyday and most days that's exercise and walking/slow running. If you are exercising, you may have to mix up your routine. If you are not exercising -- problem solved!

Nutrition - I written on bariatric topics and facilitated a support group and I think I need nutritional counseling. Eating too little can be as much of a problem as eating too much. Find out what they suggest for you and don't take any body else's routine as something that will work for you.

Water - Exceeding 64 ounces is a good idea because the 8 cups of water are for normal weight adults.

Medical factors -- constipation, fluid retention, vitamin deficiency. Is everything OK? I don't lose weight when I'm sick. I know some people do, but for me, weight loss is the product of a healthy, functional Frances.

Where do you stand in those categories? I am evaluating all those things and seeking help to see what I need to change and what I need to keep. Your doctor is a part of an excellent program. Don't forget to give them a ring and see what resources they have available to help you figure this out.

Wishing you well,
Frances
