Think about soup, jello, pudding, graham crackers, milk (also dried milk to add to the milk for double milk) -- if you like a weight lifters style drink find one now you like and try them, after a few days you will be able to try protein bars ( Walgreens and Wal-mart have a large selection) try one of each -- I got in the habit of having one at 3 pm everyday for several months to get the protein.  Also have cheese.  My first real meal was a chicken salad sandwich --with smooth not chuncky chicken salad-- it took an entire day to eat this.  Another good first meal is browned lean ground meat, cooked like you would prepare taco filling but without the seasoning. One tablespoon of meat and another of mashed potatoes is a good starting meal.  Finely sliced ham is easy to eat and for me bacon was also easy.  A scrambled egg is also a good first food -- yes a single egg and nothing else! I also ate grits fairly soon.  You will have trouble being able to consume enough liquids at the very beginning -- food will not be a problem.  Flakey fish is worth considering early.  Avoid rice and fired food early on.  My taste buds were off for 3 or 4 months but they returned to normal.  If you want to cheat -- have chocolate milk --it is high in protein.  Try double milk ---- take 1/2 gallon of milk less one cup, add one cup of powdered milk, shake well and let sit overnight in the frig., try the next day.  Another "cheating" food would be nuts, like pecans or almonds.

I have a date--May 19th!!!!

I am so excited for my surgery--but I am scared that I am gonna mess up and not lose the weight! After all--the reason I am so fat--is cause I love to eat!!!

Any suggestions of what I should stock my pantry with that will satisfy my urges of wanting to cheat on this diet!

What should I eat before-during and after?

I know that I have to have stuff available to eat when I am able to--or I will cheat---but I just don't know what to buy!

Please Help!!!

I love Dr. Richardson at Ochsner.  He did my RNY in Nov. 2008, and then removed my gallbladder in Nov. 2009.  If I ever need another surgery, I am going back to him.
