I used him and so did my son. He is the absolute best. He does the surgery at an outpatient surgery center. It was $9300 when I had mine. He is very professional and an excellent Dr. He has been doing the Gastric Bypass since 1982. The VSG is a much easier surgery. You have to stay in a local hotel for a couple of days, but he makes house calls everyday to see you. This is how he keeps the cost down. He uses a # 32 bougie, which is on the smaller side. I have nothing but good things to say about him.

GOT MY FIRST APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED TODAY FOR MAY 18!!!! ITS AT TULANE AND THE DOCTOR IS DR. CHARLES BELLOWS...DIDNT GET APPROVED YET...BUT ITS LOOKING REALLY GOOD!!! SO FREAKIN HAPPY....

I just wanted to say hello!!! I too used Dr.G & I have been more then pleased with him, his staff, his professionalism, there is nothing that I can say bad about my whole experience from start to finish. I would suggest that you go to the monthly meeting they are such a great motivation up keep!!! Take care & maby we'll meet at a meeting one day..lol...

I am sorry your sister has trouble with her surgery, but I am a firm believer in Dr Chung. I have bypass with Dr Chung 5 yrs ago, and has lost 120 lbs and kept it off. He offers support groups that he personally attends every second thursday of each month, and he has always been very attentive to my needs. My sister had sugery done by Dr Hargroder and had severe bleeding problem, and I got her to see Dr Chung immediately. He not only fixed the problem, but saved her life as she was bleeding to death. I dont believe there is a perfect Dr around, but he certainly goes the extra mile in my book. my sister and I are forever grateful to him. All my friends felt the same way too and he is aways available for them as well. Just another opinion.

Beware of Dr. Chung, just saying. I live in this area and I am a registered nurse. He did my sisters RNY she has had to go to a Houston surgeon for 2 seperate procedures due to her RNY. She had to have a stricture repair, then hernia repair with a mesh insertion. She did lose at first but she has since regained much of her weight. Ask Dr Chung why he cannot do surgery at St Patricks hospital anymore, not sure if he will tell you the truth, I really don't know why myself. Only rumors. He also did a lap band on my neice, he has had extreme trouble accessing her port to add or subtract fluid from her band. She lost about 50lbs initially and has regain it all plus. I had a DS done in Baton Rouge by Dr Andrew Hargroder. I was a self pay and would do it again in a min. I haven't lost all of my weight but I did lose about 140 with no significant regain in 3 years. No complications. Please research the Duodenal Switch and see what you think. Just trying to help, please don't take offense. I'm glad I had someone to tell me different options before I had surgery. I used Dr Andrew Hargroder, he was awesome, his office was geat, not too crazy about his PA but she was workable 
I had a DS done and I would do it again tomorrow. DS is such a great surgery compared to others out there. Do your research. I paid cash because my insurance would not cover it. Total for everything was 22,000. He has cash pay packages including his charges, and hospital charges, all inclusive kind of like "club med" LOL He has a web site he has several offices now I think. When I used him he was in Baton Rouge. No complicaions, I've not heard anything bad about him before or since my surgery. I had my surg. by lap procedure, 2 nights in the hospital, pulled my drains and removed my staples before I even left the hospital. No infection, no problems. He's office responds quickly to anything you need. Hope this helps.

My Surgeon was Dr. Mark Hausmann in Baton Rouge. He is with the Surgeons Group of Baton Rouge. I found him to be excellent and very attentive. I had insurance that covered my surgery 100% so I am not sure of the cost if you pay cash. Everyone in his office are excellent tho.
