Topic: Moving down there
Hi y'all:

Getting my Southern accent tuned up (I actually lived in Georgia for awhile). I'm moving from Michigan down to Monroe, La., at the end of the month. Anybody live in Monroe? Know a support group or good doctor down there? I had WLS nearly six years ago and have lost 180 pounds. It was the best decision I've ever made.

Looking forward to meeting y'all and making new friends.

Just a quick question, not trying to start anything.  I saw your doctor is Dr. Steeb, have you seen that his license is suspended?  He cannot legally perform any surgeries in the state of Louisiana.  You really should call his office and check it out.

Here is the link to the medical board site where you can look up the information:

hope things work out for you!

Kerri I hope that we can be friends too.  We all need all the help we can get. I have heard of dr chung. I am trying to get my boyfriend to go there and have the same surgery we are having. His insuraance doesnt cover it but I am going to appeal and see if we can get something done.

Kerri it is a small world. and Vinton is a small town. I might just know him lol. Tununi I will be glad to be friends with you and help you thru this journey. I will need the same support from you. We can help each other and others too. I am 35 and a college student. I have two children who are 3 and 12.  This has been a long journey. I feel personally that the VGS is the best route for me. I was  interested in the band at one time but now I feel that the sleeve will be better for me becauase I have so much weight to loose. Some one dear to me has the lap band but he has stalled at loseing 100 pounds because he does not follow up with his dr to have the fills.  he eats what he wants without restriction. He needs to loose at least another 100 pounds. He is alot better than he was. I hope that we can confide in each other and praise each other on our goals.  I look forward to it

Countrygirl since you are the only one nice enough to answer my questions.I have a few more.Since the last post I've been reading up on the sleeve it sounds so scary but most effective. My question to you is if i get the Lap Band instead do u think i will lose the weight i need to lose and keep it off.I know this is a silly question but i don't see my PCP until next week and can't wait until then to find answers.Ever since i found out Medicaid will pay for the WLS I can't stay off line reading and researching everything i cant get my hands on.I'm so excited this is like a dream come true.I was a assistant manager at a furniture store.I had insurance that would not cover the surgery.I lose my job when i was 2mons pregnant.Applied for Medicaid and here i am. i consider losing my job a blessing sometimes.Countrygirl i won't lie food has played a big part in my life since i was born .And i must tell you I'm afraid to let it go sometimes. But it's not about me anymore i have a 16mon old son to take care of and I'm all he has in this world. He loves so much and i the same.So if letting food go and living to see my son grow into a man then i can do it for him.I suffer with high blood pressure sleep apnea and back problems. My next question is after i get approved for the surgery and i know i will in jesus name. But after the surgery is over and done can i lean on you for guidence and support since i know u will begin your journey before me.Thanks
