I am sorry that one of your fav food no longer taste as good. I have heard many statements of food not tasting as good or taste buds change after surgery. To me I dontmind so much because food tasting so good is what got me into this situation in the first place. lol. I am a country girl and like most food. I am having the VSG and cant wait to have the restriction to help me control how much I eat. I am glad that you are on the journey to a new you. I cant wait to be on the loosers bench....Sherri

Red beans ain't the same, I am so sad.  One of my favorite foods is red beans and rice with sausage.  Being a good ole Louisiana country boy, I am a pretty good cook when it comes to beans and rice.  But since my surgery, it really hasn't tasted the same.  I first cooked a batch about a week after surgery for the family and I freezed a little for myself as a soup when I got to the pureed stage.  Boy, I couldn't wait to try some.  When I did, it tasted like crap.  I threw it away.  Tried again a couple of weeks later using Blue Runner canned beans.  Still tasted bad.  The kids loved it but it didn't taste the same.  Made some yesterday using fresh beans.  Tried to eat some last night at work, could only eat a couple of spoonfuls before the pouch started bubblin'.

Today, I decided that I was going to try some with a couple of tablespoons of rice for my dinner tonight at work.  Could only eat a couple of bites and I had to put it away.  Well, at least I didn't throw it up.

Topic: RE: NERVOUS ABOUT MY SUGERY HELP

You have to look at your surgery as a positive step to changing your life and improving your health.  I am not going to lie to you, I was worried about doing this surgery.  I had struggled with the decision for over five years.  In that time, I contracted type II Diabetes and I worried with that.  The biggest fear for me was what would happen to my kids if I died.  But you have to look at this as a positive step, think about what your life is going to be like with all of the extra weight off.

I am almost eight weeks out, and I don't regret anything about the surgery.  When I woke up following the surgery, I didn't even feel a whole lot of pain.  The gas was worse than the surgery and this was my first major surgery.  When you start to feel anixety, come onboard to this site and look around.  The support you will get from people here will help you, I know they helped me.

Topic: RE: NERVOUS ABOUT MY SUGERY HELP
Hey girl its all going to be ok. Ive gone thru 9 major surgeries including two c-sections. I have been told by several people that the c-sections were way worse than the WLS.  It can be scarey but I just keep thinking of starting my new life on the loosing end. It will be a little painfull but my body will feel sooooooo much better after all this weight comes off. My feet wont hurt. My knees will not creek when I bend. My back wont lock up when I bend over ( hopefully). I wont feel like someone is sitting on my chest 24/7. Those are my comforts ehn I start to fear having the surgery. I hope that this helps. Not to metion looking cute in some skinny cloths.....Sherri
