Topic: RE: MY DR DID'NT TELL ME WHAT DIET TO GO ON HELP
I seen Dr. Bellows nutritionist last week, she gave me three sheets of the diets we are suppose to use after surgery, she did not say anything about pre op diet, I would call her ASAP!!!!!!!!!! Her name is Kasey Lopez (504) 988-1717, I guess this is the number at Tulane hospital. Hope this helps.

Congrats, prayers and good wishes!
I would suggest that you have Dr. Richardson's office work closely with your OB. Maybe staying within the Oschner network would be a good idea.
All my best,
Frances

Topic: RE: An Ode To Red Beans
I think it will get better. A big problem with all of us is that we want to decide "yah" or "nay" in the weeks/months after surgery.
I don't do well with frozen or canned stuff, but even that has gotten better in the last few months.
I would suggest overnight soaking to draw the air out of the beans. Change the the water a few times if possible. Then, make the soupy and rich. I use brown, long grain rice types or leave it out. Short grain rice will start to clump immediately especially if it's cooked with the lid on and gets sticky.
These days I make them fresh with 'lots' of onions, lean sausage bits and, strangely enough, served with fresh avocados.
Be prepared to give your body a full year before you can see what will work and what won't.
Hey, also, I got a ladies fit Cowboy jersey and I can't bring myself to throw it away. My hubby-skin has threatened violence against it. I want a cute, tight Saints or Skins shirt by Fall. Do you want me to send it to you all? It's an Emmit Smith.
Onward!

Topic: In Louisiana now
Hey y'all:
Made it down to Monroe, La., yesterday after moving from Michigan. I start my new job on Monday. I moved with my 16-year-old cat, Scooter, who hated the ride in the car (but didn't care much after being drugged), but loved hotel life.
Any Monroe folk out there? Would love to meet you.

First, hi neighbor.
Congratulations. I would call my surgeon's office. I am sure they can recommend someone.

Sorry to hear that, although it may be a good thing that we lose the taste for the foods we ate prior to surgery -- the ones that got us here in the first place. If you really want them, wait a few weeks and try again. Good luck.
