Topic: RE: DOC AT LSU IN NEW ORLEANS TAKES MEDICAID
ATTENTION ANYONE WITH LOUISIANA MEDICAID WHO WANTS WLS:

Dr. Charles Bellows @ Tulane in New Orleans is accepting NEW patients and happily accepts Louisiana Medicaid. I didn't want to mention this sooner because I wasn't sure how things were gonna work out, but my surgery was done on June 16th and I am recovering nicely. The staff at Dr. Bellows office is very helpful. I just love Vanessa (PA) and Sheila (Nurse).

My heart was broken when things fell through with Dr. Steeb. I prayed very hard that if it was meant to be for me to have this surgery, that God would provide a surgeon, and he did! If you were like me and invested your heart, mind, and soul into having WLS, don't give up. Call Tulane' s surgical clinic and get you an appointment. Dr. Bellows has performed alot of WLS, but I was his first patient to ever get the sleeve. Then a couple of my other friends were sleeved by him as well.

I hope that this helps any of you who were and still are considering the surgery.

I had a stress test, too. Some doctors will do a drug-induced stress test if you have bad joints and can't do the treadmill. That's how I had mine ... I was coming off having my knee scoped, had problems with my feet and there was no way I could do the treadmill (still can't, actually ... still have a bad right knee). So what they do is give you this drug while you lie on the bed with all the sensors hooked up, they do an ultrasound of your heart and take other pictures and EKGs and stuff. The drug acts like exercise would. The only problem I had with it is it makes you really thirsty ... I went out to lunch after and drank about a pitcher of water at Red Lobster.

Good luck!

Thanks I'll remember to do that.  Was it easier to drink cold or warm liquids after surgery?

Welcome again Eileen.  I am glad your move here was uneventful.  I hope life if going well for you since your move here.  At least the weather calmed down just a bit, not quite as hot as it was.  If I can be of any assistance, please just pm me.

Hey girl you are in my prayers. The stress test will go fast so try not to worry. If itsw the same as the one I had to have a few years ago they just make u try to get ur heart rate up while walking on a treadmill. Try to see how long you can walk at a certain speed and watch what u heart rate does. I hope this helps u any....Sherri
