Bariatric Surgery is covered by medicaid, yet only 5 people in Louisiana take it!! Two of them no longer DO bariatric surgery, Dr. Dominguez stopped accepting Medicaid patients shortly after I finished my last visit....Dr. Perez in Thibodeaux basically only accepts Thibodeaux patients. The receptionist told me I would need to re-do everything there plus get an endoscopy done. Finally, Dr. Ducoin has a LONG waiting list available but no idea when he will be available.

Does anyone know any cheap self pay doctors with payment plans? This is my absolute last resort because I don't have cash like that.

what is the name of the Dr in Thibodeaux please. Dr D office just told me they can't do it anymore and I was in my final stage before the surgery

Girl guess what as of yesterday Dr. D office will no longer take Medicaid! So pray that all goes well with this Dr. in thibodeaux I had to send paperwork my primary insurance will not cover it to them so my Medicaid can pick up keep me in prayers!

Thanks thinking about that the summer would be good for me cause my kids will be out of school.. and is their a certain amount of weight you have to loose in those two weeks or does it very by person.

My initial appt (after my paperwork was turned in) I believe was on sept 14, and I met Dr.D and the dietician.

I did have to do the liquid diet. He prefers his patients to do one. And each Dr has their own specific diet. Its not hard. Its just a stepping stone, to help you along your path.

Out of the dates she gave me I chose 10/28/16, bc it was the weekend and I have kids, and that way no one had to get them ready for school and such. Once I left the office, I began to eat 2 small meals a day and start more liquids to help me adjust to the liquid diet bc you dont want to mess yourself up. Starting you diet 14 days before and not following it. Then surgery date comes and you havent lost weight, and that shows you aren't compliant or ready, plus your liver fatty and he may have problems doing the surgery(which is the Main reason for the diet). Rescheduled! Sad! So do your best to help you succeed.

She will give you a choice of dates. But usually within 2-3 weeks, I chose the farthest date bc I needed it. But be aware that your not going to come home and jump right back into life.

Medicaid will approve you as long as you have everything she asked for, period. Cheryl is great at her job, and has streamlined the process so that all the BS is already removed.

Everything you have to get before hand IS what they need to approve you.
