Yes i do think he was a good surgeon.....i only saw him once and that was before surgery and all the others that i saw was awesome!

waking up from surgery i was awful i cried and cried cause i hurt so bad but i guess that got sumthing to do with all the emotions floating threw ur body!  Those first 2 weeks was rough but

Don't think of it as you can NEVER have good food again. You will have to give some stuff up for awhile. I don't know what the VSG requires, or what your surgeon requires. I know that with my surgeon and RNY, I was allowed, after a certain amount of time, to have a small amount of alcohol (and I do mean small ... like one drink) again. Because that one drink is going to hit you harder than it used to (not sure about VSG ...just know about RNY).

I gave up caffeine for a good two years ... and I love my coffee, and my beer and my pop. But hey, I wanted to be healthy ... I wanted that weight off my knees and back. So I did what I was told.

Six and a half years later, I have the occasional drink .. a glass of wine or a beer, like once or twice a week ... I have my coffee again. I have an occasional pop, but don't really miss that all that much. You will be surprised what you won't miss. There are SF dacquiri mixes, BTW. So when you want the taste (without the alcohol) you can try that ... and maybe later ... much later, of course, like a year or two out ... you can add a little bit of alcohol back in.

Good luck to you.

Dr. Gachassin in Lafayette.  $11,500 and they have an excellent program and great outcomes.

Thanks to everyone on this site for sharing so much information.  It really does help.....I am really trying to get to a doctor at the University or Tulane because I was told its cheaper.  I did call Dr Bellow's office.  A receptionist told me he wasn't taking any cash patients.  Does anyone know any doctors thats cheaper around the New Orleans area or Houma?

Thanks again for information!!!
