I have Aetna Ins. and it was covered 100% except for $400 per night for the hospital room. I also have medicare, which covered 80% of the balance.
Dr.Shimer is very nice and his office staff is just awesome.
I almost fainted when I recieved the hospital bill. For just the hospital, not including the surgeon, the bill was $77,000.00. You could buy a small home for that amt of money!! But, I really do not regret it at all, just thankful that I have really good insurance.

I used Dr. Shimer in Lake Charles, LA. He is wonderful and you aren't pressured to buy anything, they actually do not have anything to sell!! On my pre op visit I was given an information book about the surgery, what I could do,and eat, and what I couldn't. If you are interested let me know and I will give you his phone number.

I used Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia. He was awesome and very inexpensive. I'm not sure if he accepts insurance or only self pays.

I used Dr. Drake E. Belanger, Gonzales, LA, 3 weeks ago for Vertical Sleeve (VSG). 
He is absolutely awesome and I feel great! 

I'm interested in having the gastric sleeve or the gastric bypass. My insurace has approved me but I want another dr. I am looking for a dr who isn't part of a big clinic, basically someone who has his own office, doesn't require all the book buying, etc that comes along with the large weighlost clinics. I will travel whereever but would llike someone near louisiana.
