Topic: Surgery in Mexico?
Has anyone considered surgery in Mexico? I'm having it done on 7/4/11. I did a lot of research, 4 months to be exact. I feel he is not only the best in the US, but the best in the world. I know some feel it's pretty drastic, going to Mexico, but I've actually made appts. with a couple of doctors here in Baton Rouge and they know this particular doctor. He's very good. He is on the Board of American surgeans, uses FDA approved bands, ect.
For someone who's insurance won't pay it is a thought. I'm having the gastric plication done. He's the pioneer of the preceedure and he's awsome. I'm only paying $7500.00. This includes the hospital and 5 star hotel.
Just a thought in case someone is interested who's insurance won't pay. I'm not an employee of them or anything like that. I live here in Baton Rouge. Here's their website www.obecitycontrolcenter.com
Please feel free to contact me any time. [email protected] or [email protected]

I choose Dr. Karl Leblanc and had surgery a bit over 3 weeks ago. His office staff was extremely helpful and responds quickly ... emails answered within hours. I have been extremely pleased with Dr. Leblanc. BTW, I traveled from near Houma to Baton Rouge to see him. My insurance was BCBS-NC.

Well thank you very much for sharing. I may just make an appointment at the office and sit down and have another discussion with him. I live in Prospect, just north of Pineville, so a local surgery and provider would be lovely.

I don't want to try to change your mind about the doctor you use because I want you to be happy. I did use Dr. Bledsoe and am very happy with him and his staff. I've called a few times and had to leave a message but they always call back promptly. Dr. Bledsoe is very knowledgeable and answers all my questions during our appointments. Doris and Pam are wonderful people. I don't know the insurance lady's name but she worked mine out good. I never even called the insurance company. They checked all that for me. I was already castastrophic so BCBS Fed paid the whole bill. I had some pain while in the hospital and (because of family history) they brought in a cardiologist and kept me an extra day. They wanted to make sure everything was okay before I went home. He even fixed my hiatal hernia. I'm very pleased with my care from them. I went to Cabrini (it's a hospital). I have no opinion on that.

Topic: RE: Does Dr. Shimer do VSG and cost?
Not sure but in Lafayette they have some great prices. Sleeve $11,500. Dr. Gachassin did mine and pre-op education, consult, post op with team and surgeon for a year all included.
