Non WLS procedure today
Well I had my gb surgery today, feeling much better (even with the surgery pain) than I did before. I never noticed HOW bad it was affecting everything about how I felt, not just pain in my chest but "yuck" and tired and dreary throughout my body... I feel soooo much better, even with the pain meds worn off
Anyway, I just had to share a funny moment this morning
The nurse was asking my name and date of birth (using two identifiers to assure accurate identity of the person to be operated on), and then asked me what surgery I was having (to make sure of "right patient, right surgery" etc)... I was half asleep since it was 6 am... and I was staring off in to space, reciting my name, birthday, etc.... and I said "I'm having the gastric bypass.... lap" and it was funny, I didn't even realize I said that. The nurse just stopped, like I'd slapped her or something and looked at me stunned. Then she says "Let me check, that's not the surgery I have listed here" and then I guess I looked like the one slapped back to reality, and I said "Oh, that's not what I meant to say! I'm having a lap choley done" and she started laughing really really hard and I explained that I had hoped to have the RNY with my lap choley, but it didn't work out...
isn't that hysterical!!??!! I wasn't paying attention to the boring stuff "Please spell your name" and all, and I was completely serious when I said it... That's what got her laughing... she said that she thought I was trying to test her, because she knows I'm a nurse....
After all the laughter was done, I was given an IV (anesthesia doc did it, since the nurse couldn't find a vein)... and wheeled on in for my surgery.
I was discharged by noon, and am back at the RV taking it easy Just had to share my funny "Freudian Slip" with you guys.
