Kateri, I have a feeling next week will be a little harder than the weeks to come. But, you know you have something positive getting ready to happen. I will pray that this week will be easy for you and the weeks to follow. The most important thing is keeping a positive attitude and following your surgeons advice. I know you will do fine. Looking forward to hearing about your journey. Hugs, Jodi

Amy! that is wonderful! Iwish i could lose 5 pounds in 9 days! I think I'm the slowest loser for our surgery month! But that's okay - at least we're losing!! I don't know if I can up my exercise, I try to do something every day, but I have to be honest I don't walk 2 miles a day!! That's awesome. You did the walk challenge from Mitzi too, didn't you? I did, but came in last!! Which I knew I would!! Well congratulations and good luck with today's events. love donna

Amy thanks for posting this. I am on week 5 of a plateau. My doc said in about another week I should start losing again. After the first week of not losing I started working out more and differently and nothing is happening... But I continue to tread along and hopefully the plateau will be over soon. Congratulations on the 5 lb loss! Claire

Heather, My B-12 levels were never low. My surgeon likes to err on the side of caution and start all of his WLS patients on monthly B12 injections. To date my B12 level has remained great. The only thing that has dropped is my ferratin level. Not to be confused with your hemoglobin. My hemoglobin stays between 12.5 and 13.5. My ferratin level was low with my last bloodwork--March 2nd. My level was 13 and my PCP says he would like it to be at least 50, closer to 100. It came up 4 points (to 17 April 11th) after one month on Hemocyte (325 mg of Ferrous Fumerate) available from the pharmacist--don't need a prescription, just ask for it. He wants to redo bloodwork in June. If my ferratin is not up considerably by then, we will talk about iron infusions. Don't want to do that, so keep your fingers crossed for me. Terri

Great Info! I found this & thought it might be helpful: vitamin B-12 What high-vitamin B-12 foods can do for you: support production of red blood cells and prevent anemia allow nerve cells to develop properly help your cells metabolize protein, carbohydrate, and fat What events can indicate a need for more high-vitamin B-12 foods? red or sore tongue tingling or numbness in feet nervousness heart palpitations depression memory problems Excellent sources of vitamin B-12 include calf's liver and snapper. Also Venison, Shrimp, chinook salmon, halibut and spinach.

But also remember that we probably don't absorb much of any B12 from foods because we lack the instrinic factor in our stomachs to break it down and we bypass the area in the intestines that absorb B12. We can however process B12 sublingually (under tongue) or via shots (intramuscular). Kathy
