My friends funeral was yesterday and there must have been at least 500 people. Several firefighters from around the state. They put his casket on the tanker and walked the mile and half to the cemetary. This cemetary was/is an old cemetary with some of the families from way back in the 1800's. Several fire trucks and rescue units from around the state was in the procesion. Just about everyone walked to the cemetary. We walked over the interstate and they had the on ramps closed. Employess at businesses along the way just walked out and stood as the procesion. went by. When we got to the dirt road to go to the cemetary there were two latters trucks hanging a huge American flag. Gosh talk about touching. They also had the Life Air Rescue Helecoptor fly over at the graveside. It did a dip. Talk about tears flowing. You know firefighters, cops are real tough, but yesterday it was rough seeing those guys break down. I do want to thank everyone for the prayers that have been said for the guys at the fire department and for his family. Thanks again, Jodi

Jodi, I'm sure it was a heart wrenching day. I think firefighters and policemen go out of their way to show homage to a fallen member. They will travel miles, from other states even, to show respect. We could all take lessons from them. We have been praying for everyone involved. My heart goes out to that mother who knows her son died because of his love for her. Patricia

Patricia, He spent his life saving the lives of others and died saving the life of the person that gave him life. It was so awesome seeing all of these men crying, hugging and helping one another. It was beautiful in such a sad way... Thank you for the prayers. Jodi

Hi Rhonda, A friend of ours was murdered Saturday. He walked into a home invasion at his mothers house. He was on his way to work and saw a strange car so he went to check on her. His 80 year old mother was tied up, the guys heard Joe and attacked him when he walked in. They beat the crap out of him and then lit his body on fire. Well then the house caught on fire and his mother somehow was able to escape and flagged down some help. They live out of town on a Hwy, her house is set a good distance from the road, so it was all a miracle that she made it to the road. She was admitted for smoke inhilation and injuries. He was actually starting his first day of retirement from the fire department. He was a fire captain and EMT for the department for 20 plus years and a volunteer prior to that, back when the department was only volunteers. My husband has been a volunteer for 20 years with the department so it really ha**** home with us. He had just started working for another rural fire department close by. It has been very hard on the guys at the fire department and the police and sherriffs department. Those guys have worked so close to him for so many years. This guy spent his life saving the lives of others to only lose his life saving the life of the person that gave him life. . On a good note, they arrested the two guys yesterday. Justice will be served. Take care, Jodi
