Settling in and waving at OHLA!

I just wanted to send a "wave" to OHLA and tell you all how much I've missed you out here in "Rainsville" TX Most of you know that the hurricanes were my biggest cause of relocation, yet I moved here... and kinda haven't posted much... well the truth is my internet has been sporadic at best... it's satellite and we've had rain and flash flooding here pretty much every few days I was very freaked when I saw all over the news about the flash flooding here, and how people were having to be rescued from flooded homes!! The pictures in the paper of people on rooftops waiting to be rescued from LAST WEEKEND's "Hundred year rain" were just shocking. So, things are perking up a bit I'm doing laundry at our campground facility... those of you who have gone camping at public campgrounds can attest to the quality of facilities open to public use at campgrounds... yay fun! Anyone remember us talking about the closest Bariatric COE ("Center of Excellence") being in Dallas? WELL!! Turns out that I went from Ochsner (COE in many fields, not yet bariatrics) in New Orleans, to the next closest COE.... North Hills Hospital in TX... Funny how life is, huh? We've found a house, it's gorgeous! Two stories, 3 bedrooms/2.5 baths, pool, 2 car garage, fireplace, slate flooring in HUGE kitchen, carpeted everywhere else.... wow... what can I say... price is like 1/3 of real estate in New Orleans (even PRE-Katrina). The local parks (every few blocks) even have great playground equipment and bbq pits and all kinds of stuff to do! There's an ice skating rink just 2 exits down on I-20! It's amazing how fast the time is flying... I'm still hoping for a June 12th surgery date, it's not written down yet, but I'm hopeful... have to wait till closer to the time, to call and make the appointments to schedule it and redo some preop stuff (new labs/ekg/ultrasound needed)... hey, maybe this time I'll get lucky and show up with mild diabetes or something? Just kidding... I know it wouldn't be lucky... but it could save me a LOT of hassle and cash... Keep in touch guys... So glad to hear from you kat.... I grew up in arlington, even graduated from arlington lamar high school. I loved it there, and somehow ended up here in nw la. But none the less I like it here as well. North hills hospital is a very nice one, I was there when I had my oldest son... Of course that was almost 16 years ago. Keep your chin up and we will have our surgery when it is meant to be... I am still haging in there as well, and hoping for a May date myself. Enjoy the texas weather out there... Lol. It can get crazy sometimes. My oldest son's dad still lives out that way just outside of burleson, which is just south of you. So maybe one day when taking him to his dad's we cqan still meet up. I sure have missed seeing your posts on the board, try not to be such a stranger. God bless, lori
