I am so feeling for Ashleigh. She and I had our surgeries around the same time. Of course, her journey sounds quite a bit rougher but I too have now been in the hospital twice and feel like...."WHAT HAVE I DONE!" I've read so many of your success stories and I'm just wondering....WHAT'S MISSING? I feel yucky, tired, weak........and like no matter what I do, I'm never going to get in enough water. My mouth is constantly like a glue factory...gag! My surgery was open RNY, and the wound is finally not so sore anymore.......but man, I feel like WWIII is raging in my body. Does this slow down, stop? Will I one day wake up and suddenly be like, ok....I feel good today? Any advice is welcome!!! Am I just a freak or what! Thanks all. Kendra

Kendra--I am so sorry you are now well. Ashleigh is also having a hard time. I am less that 2 weeks out and doing great. I had a little nausea today and have been whinning all day. You girls have suffered more than anyone should have to. I know everyone has a different experience. I am having an easy experience so far but not losing fast. Just be strong and look at your goals. Think how fast this last year pasted and before youj know it you will be at your 1 year anniversity and thin!! Just take it day by day. Be strong and positive--bj

Hey Kendra it will get better. No your not a freak. It could be because you had yours open I'm sure it's a much bigger shock to your body to have it done that way. Plus the heal time is much longer with open. I had my Lap and was fine in a couple of days. Take care of yourself. Tina

Thanks for taking the time to post Tina........I'll try to take care of myself, lol......and my 17 month old. I have a great friend from high school that lives in Denham......haven't seen her in several months though. Denham is a neat little town that has grown tons the past few years.........just look at how developed Range is now.....used to be so many empty lots!!!! Take care, Kendra

Kenda, dear ... I had the WWII-type journey full of weakness, anemia, complication and 6 *other* surgeries with my first 14 months after weight loss surgery. Guess what, I'm one of those easy-breezing lap band babes. There's enough to go around, apparently. I couldn't get up unassisted for almost two weeks. Walking for me was going to the bathroom. But ... YES! It does get better, I promise it does. Hold on and stay the course. Tap into the power of meditation and prayer. Focus on your goals and visualize WELLNESS. It's right around the corner. Onward! Frances

Frances, You are such a source of inspiration. Wow, you really ran the course with your journey. I am so glad to find out that I'm not alone. I'm 5 weeks out and just wake up every morning wondering WHAT ON EARTH HAVE I DONE? I've prayed and prayed and to be honest, God has granted me calmness on many levels.........I'm just a mom and need to feel better. I feel bad feeling bad and not being "fully mom" for my girls. But I know the big picture will be much better, it has to be. I'll be a healthy mom in the future and teaching them healthy habits. TIME, just need it to pass I guess. Thanks Frances for your uplifting. Sincerely, Kendra

""""""""""""""""""""" I'm just a mom and need to feel better. """""""""""""""""""" You hit on something: ***The toughest job on earth ***The most underrated ***The highest calling I did this for my girl (if you can call that child in a large plastic bowl spinning on my floor that) and the first thing I thought was "how could I neglect her so?" I had to take time and effort "from her" to give more and longer "to her." Yes, TIME just has to pass. Onward! Cece's Mom

Kendra: Sorry you have been having a rough time. I wondered why I hadn't seen any posts from you. When I went to see Dr. Shapiro about 3 weeks after surgery, I told him I was feeling tired and weak, and that is when he started me on the B-12 shots. You had your surgery at the same time of the month that I had mine. I went back to work last year on 3/23 and was still a little tired, but it got better every day. It seemed like my incision took forever to heal. I ended up with a painful lump of scar tissue at the top of my scar. Dr. S. had a name for it, but I don't recall what it was. He said the doctor could take care of it when I had my tummy tuck. That is, providing they do an anchor cut and not just the tummy tuck on the lower part of the abdomen. On the plus side, since I lost all my weight in the first 6 months, my weight has been stable for the last 7 months and he put me in for my tummy tuck. I got my referral in the mail last week to LSU in Shreveport. I called them and I have an appointment on 4/18 to see about getting the plastic surgery process started. Keep a positive attitude, it does get better. Just remember that everyone heals differently. Cathy G.
