STILL CAN'T KEEP THINGS DOWN
Well I am starting to get a lil worried,, Since leaving the hospital I still am not able to keep anything down,, and with just having surgery through the same incisions as before my stomach is killing me not only from the surgery but now from barfing ,, ahhhh,,,, First I tried clear things like broth, juice, popsicles, and then they told me to try some thicker things like my protein shakes, and thicker broths like cream soups,, well I haven't been able to keep anything down,, popsicles were ok but boy I am sick of them and the thought of broth makes me want to barf!!! I tried some chx noodle soup, minus the chx and noodles but that came up along with some bile,, omg that hurt.,,, I don't know what to do,, I also have some runs,,, Me and my mom were thinking maybe I just have a HORRIBLE case of the stomach flu going around, who knows? I am sooooo sick of being sick ,,, anyway my internet has been messing up so me getting online i**** or miss, so if I don't respond right away thats why, but I sure do appreciate all the great wishes! I hope everyone is doing well!!
OH I forgot to tell yall about my great experience at the hosp. !!! I was soo dehydrated when I went in they had to stick me over and over ,, and by the time I was discharged I was stuck a toal of 17 times ,, My IV kept blowing , don't know if it was b/c of my veins of b/c the potasssium they were giving me that made them blow ,, but ouch I was like ok I don't mind being stuck but 17 times , wow'zer,,,, I have bruises everywhere I look like a drug addict!!!! Also I don't know if they had me in a bad position during surgery of what but my neck and shoulder are killing me still ,,,,,,,,, I still haven't lost alot of weight I think I am only up to like 30 pds give or take depending on the day and time,, I know I shouldn't be focused on only the weight and believe me I am not ,, I am thrilled my health is getting better, but just worried that most people loose like 50 pds the first month and next wed will be my month mark ,,, Just a lil disapointing especially when the doc thought I would be the patient who lost the most in the first month since I lost 10 pds in 2 days ,,, well maybe next month will be better!!
ashleigh, girl, 30lbs? that is great!!! that is expected, i don't know many people that lost 50lbs in that time, girl unless they were around 400 and above.. give your self a break , i hope you can start eating more soon.. as far as your shoulder, alot of times belly surgerys cause shoulder and neck pain, because a you have a nerve(phrenic nerve) that is connected to your diaphragm and neck/shoulder, it is manipulated during surgery, so some folks suffer pain, till it settles down.. ( i had it with my gallbladder, and get i patients all the time with the same pain,(i work on a surgery floor ) let alone gas from where your belly was inflated during your surgery for visualization.. hope you get to feeling better soon.. let us know if you need anything. rhonda!!!!!!!!!!!
Ashleigh,
First, I am sorry you are still having a tough time....I pray things will improve for you....
Second, Don't compare yourself to anyone else...You have just had a few extra days in the hospital with IV fluids, that in itself will not help you with the weight loss. Most people come out of the hospital weighing more than when they go in for the surgery because of the IV fluids. You just had another round of fluids. You are more than likely swollen too. You have several things against you right now...Thirty pounds is nothing to sneeze at. Give yourself some time to heal and once the fluids are out of your system and you are back to healing the weight will come off.
Most importantly, take care of yourself, don't rush this....I know you want the weight off (as we all do) but you have to take care of yourself and before you know it this bad part will be over and you will be posting happy posts.....I know it will happen for you soon.
Take care,
Jodi
Ash - I hope you call Dr. O and let him know what is going on. It isn't good to not keep stuff down.
Now about worrying about 50 lbs the first month. I'm not sure what I lost the first month. Just be happy you are losing weight.
Dr. O's biggest weight loss patient lost 126 in 3 months. So thats the weight to beat (if you want to be his biggest loser )
Everyone loses at a different rate and sometimes I haven't lost any weight all week and at the end of the week I'll suddenly lose 4 or 5 lbs. I've been stuck at 105 lbs now for 3 weeks. It's really disappointing, but I know it will start again.
Hi Ashleigh!
I am so sorry to hear you are going through a rough time! I hope you are able to get past this part soon. My opinion about the weight loss, maybe it is because you are retaining some fluids from being on the IV? That's my guess. I know when I was last in the hospital I had gained 6 pounds from so much fluid. Give it a few days and I am sure you'll start to see the weight drop again.
Have you spoken to your doctor yet today? Is the office or hospital supposed to call in and check on your progress? Or did they not say?
My doctor and hospital both called and checked in on me once I was home the day after.
I can relate to being sick and tired of the issue. But know, this too shall pass
I'm preparing for my 6 day stay in the hospital Tuesday coming. I'm not ready for it, but prepared. Out of all the surgeries I have been through, I would have to say this is the first one I am really nervous about. Don't know why, but I am. They said the surgery will last 3 hours! That's a long time for me, but I'm a fighter and I know I will come through with flying colors.
I'll be in touch and know I have
you in my thoughts and prayers!
Love Ya,
Dee
HEY GIRL,
Well my doctor or his office call and check in on my at home LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO thats a joke,, I don't think thats in their vocabulary,, anyway I may give him a call on monday if I am still doing bad,, I hate to be a bother to anyone and I feel like I am completly bothering the hell out of them, I think I am the first person to have problems in his practice, so I feel bad,,, Well I am praying for you and will come up their someday and spend the night with you ,, let me know what day you'll be alone so I won't be stepping on anyone's feet,, but I would love to meet your son!!!!! hehehe
Hey,
Stick with the clear fluids for about a week I know that you are tired of them but it will help you to heal your tummy. Secondly, The pain in your tummy might not go away for awhile. Mine lasted for about 4 months. Avoid the protein shakes till about your third or fourth week out. Too thick and they don't taste all that great either.
Stick with the liquids. I extended the recomended time to two weeks then started on purees for two weeks then too solids.
Be careful with your vomiting and seek help if needed you are a fresh postie and you could be hurting your pouch.
