The world changes day after tomorrow--at least for me. Please keep me in your thought and prayers. My surgery is a little more risky that the average because of age-58, weight over 350, and mostly a revision of sort--old stomach stappeling in 1979 lots of scar tissue. I know I will come through surgery since I am a tough ole horse but I hope we will not have to do open surgery. He will start LAP but has told be he may have to open me up depending on the amout of scar tissue. He also could not tell me the size or shape of me new little stomach again scar tissue. I have Drs Thomas and Levin in the OR so I am in good hands. Be strong--be positive. bj

Betty, Dr. Lavin did my surgery but Dr. Thomas was there to assist. I had a lot of scar tissue from 2 C-sections and a hysterectomy. I was 53 at the time of my surgery. I had severe sleep apnea also. I did fine with the surgery. The surgery took a few minutes longer because of the scar tissue. I had no complications. You are in the best of hands with this group of doctors. I pray that God envelopes you in his arms and carries you through this.. I too am in the 'anxious' stages of this journey..my surgery is scheduled for March 22 with Dr. Thomas...I go on Tuesday for the nutrition class and the pre-op hospital tests etc..I will be having my surgery at the Southern Surgical Hospital in Slidell also..then on Monday, March 20, my husband and I will travel to Covington to meet with Dr. Thomas prior to my surgery on Wednesday.. I met Dr. Lavin for the first time on Thursday night..he held the Seminar here..(It is usually Dr. Thomas) I feel very comforted in knowing that the Southern Surgical Specialists of Louisiana have the excellent reputation that they do..You will be fine Betty..just know that this 'tool' will give you a new lease on living a longer life...Good Luck!!!!!
